I first ventured into Racoon City years ago to be scared shitless That dog jumping out of the window scared you. Admit it. As it was the first horror survival game brought to the PS. It did it with bang , but a console upgrade and chapters later does it still have a bang?

The opening scence is one of the best i've ever seen it's just amazing. The graphics are dark and very pleasing to the eye, but in the dark you fumble around more then ever. Doors can be troublesome to spot and open. Zombies are friggen everywhere, but realisticly they chase you. If your fast in the levels you'll only deal with a handfull: beware the longer you linger the more flesh eating bastards you will have to mow down. Overall it's visually impressive.

Music in this game is very toned down and ambient. It doesn't seem repitive and adds to the gameplay unlike other games. However it's not overly impressive either. Could have had a few bursts of music to highlight some scarier parts to the game.

Gameplay seems how do I say this. Lacking. You have character selection. You can choose from a handful all with their plus and minuses. Some have extra inventory slots, some strong with melee weapons, others can make medicine, ect. Instead of one long game they've broken it up into chapters allowing you to pick more then one charcter throughout the entire game.

The biggest change to gameplay is you no longer are the sole survivor. You journey through the levels with a set of two companions . This game was meant to be played online with other RE fans. It basically kills the game and any suspense/shit your pants you might have gotten. Not only does the AI constantly say stupid shit, it gets downright annoying. Not only do they go around snapping up all the good items(handgun rounds and green herbs) they expect you to help them 24/7.

Inventory has gotten silm and I mean downright annorexic. Gone are the mighty days of 12 inventory slots. Be prepared to make due with 4. You can request items from other players inventory slots, which they are happy to make due without, but it's still a pain in the ass. They've also done away with those chests that you can stuff everything in and access from everywhere.

Saving there is no soild saving system in the game. You save and it boots you back to the main menue. You can resume but it's a temp save deleting when you start the game again pain the ass. It's horseshit to be honest. I lost almost 2 hours worth of gameplay since there was no soild saving system. This is a big losing part to the game Just horrible.

The health system basically stays the same as you downgrade colors in the EKG format: Green to yellow to dark red-yellow to red. If you get chopped by a zombie you become a zombie no? Finally they've added in a virus meter once you hit 100% you die, regardless of health. It adds a nice touch to the game, adding a sense of urgency to it.

Overall the game doesn't shine but doesn't disappoint. I think with a few touches and changes to gameplay it could have been 5 stars across the board. The offline gameplay should be totally redone, get other characters the hell out of there. If you think of buying it save your 50 dollars and go rent it.

The gamer nerd of the fourm Sublime(and yeah i'm leaving all the horrible spelling errors in there, if you would like you can run it through spellcheck and repost it.)
