    Cool Psst...It's Coming

Man, august heat sucks, but is anyone else starting to get that bubbling sense of hope?

It's getting colder at night and the heat of the day seems to be summer's grand finale. The grass isn't growing as fast and the hills are getting brown. The other morning the wind was from the northwest and I swear there was a tinge of fall laced in. With it came visions of what is to come instantly unlocking themselves from that place you hide them in the summer to maintain a sense of sanity.

Last year, September 11th, two days after the storm looking into BCC from Guardsman:

I usually get into the office just before 0630. For the last few months, it's light out already. Today, I had to use my lamp; it was still very dark. It always seems to change very quickly.

On Monday, I got the first issue of Powder, Monday night football was on TV, and I was handling skis in the garage. It definitely is coming....

I didn't think I would be all that excited this year with how much I've been into racing bikes, but the closer it gets the more I get that feeling. Stoke is definitely starting to rise.

Stoke rising here on the East Coast, last season I remember driving up to Burlington in the first week of October and seeing the trees on Mansfield caked with snow. As for lift service, only 3 months away, only 3 months away. I just hope that the next issue of Powder hurries up and gets here.

I woke up at 6:30 (you my friend have been in the military too long ) and it was cold enough to make my nipples hard.

    Loving it.

My lamps are packed as we move manana to Clinton, more importantly 25 minutes to Snowbasin. Was a bit darker, but I am certainly noticing the changes. Gotta commute thru Sardine Canyon to work every day, will take some digi pics as soon as the leaves start to change. This we can really get super excited.

I've noticed it for a few weeks. A month ago the pre work bike rides started with me wearing my sunglasses, now it is down right dark at 5:45. Hopefully these rides will turn into dawn patrol assaults on skis asap.

Great pics Milton. Shots like that give me hope that there will be a good winter in the Northeast. Often times I think skiing in the northeast would lose its lure if we got as much snow as Utah or Tahoe, the lack of predictibilty is what keeps me coming back year after year. Heres to waht I hope will be an epic season on the EC.[antijinx]

When we are getting rain in the middle of January and then it flash freezes to sheer ice, I often think to myself "Would I rather have 500 inches of fresh every year? Nah."

The summer has you talking crazy.
Charlie, here comes the deuce. And when you speak of me, speak well.

    Thumbs up

The night time lows have been creeping lower and lower, the days have been noticeably getting shorter, and I've been getting that itch to buy new gear and walk into various ski shops just to see if anything new has arrived. I've noticed the annual "winter weight-gain" has begun to run it's course, well, maybe that's just due to too many beers...... It's definitely coming....

Although this season isn't over yet (2 more weeks), the anticipation and anxiety of the first day out is rising quickly. I'm tired of riding on bumpy, glacial iced, dirty, hard snow.

    Stoke on.

Yep. Even if it's random, and only occasionally--as long as we get that pellet once in a while for pushing on the lever, I think we'll all keep coming back year after year. Like rats in "Skinner's" box.

I suppose I misspoke. My perfect skiing would be east coast terrain with Utah quantity and quality snow. Even after skiing out west, I just feel something special about the terrain in VT and the 'dacks. If every winter here was like the one where Jay got 571 inches, I guess that was winter 2000-2001, I would never even think about leaving the east coast. Lets just hope it starts getting cool/cold here sometime soon.

Edit: Endless knows what I'm talking about.

This is always the toughest time of year for me. Just talking about the winter to come makes me feel better.

Went camping last weekend and woke up to frost at 7000'!

Record low of 48 in Denver this morning. I saw my breath while walking the dog....though I had to look really hard at a certain angle.

I also watched High Life last night thanks to Owens maggot-only deal. Then I read the first POWDER issue while dozing off to sleep.

yep. not too far off now.

I get to work about 6 am and now its now i need my head lights on the drive in. The first issue of powder showed up Monday.... For the last couple weeks it has been cool, but I actually had to where a jacket to work the other morning... was 48. Kinda smells like fall, which means skiin is only a couple months away.

Umm yep, first week of August is historically the hottest week of the year here. It is now the second week of August. And the low last night: 57 DEGREES!!!!

The sunset has that fall tinge to it now. An entire month early... FKNA.

I had to skip lunch yesterday to sit outside on the benches at school just to marvel at the weather.

It's gonna be a good winter, boys.
    Days on snow 06-07: 3
    Days behind a boat summer 2006: 24

Dude, you must add "[antijinx]" to the end of any post like that, just to be on the safe side. You can never be too careful here on the EC. Oh yeah, and welcome, JONG!

Milton, how far north are you?!? I know the leaves change pretty early up there, but the second week in August? Oh well, I'm not complaing, it'll just make the hiking I'm gonna do in the 'dacks in a few weeks even prettier.
