    Olympic Road race who wins?

I am going to say that gord fraser and michael barry have good shots I think that the frenchies and Aussies also have a shot. Just can't make up my mind.

    What are other calls?

Never try to predict the outcome of a one day race. Too many variables.

What else am I going to do? Work?

Lots of variables yes, but the team limit restrictions and course make it interesting to guess. You're right though, it will probably be some comlete unknown at the line.

Well, I'm going to say it WON'T be an Italian. Too many chefs and not enough busboys on their team.

    Freddy Rodriguez......

if he would have made the Olympic team. I think he would have been the USAs best shot at winning a one day race such as this. Plus he would have been fresh as he did not ride in the Tour. Hincapie is probably toast from July, maybe Jason McCartney will be the darkhorse for the Gold, probably not, but he earned his spot.

My prediction, the winner will come from Italy, Germany or Estonia.

Nobody is gonna go with George Hincapie or Tyler Hamilton? Both those guys are due for a good showing. Go team USA!

I'd like to order a slice of humble pie. With a side of gelati.

I meant to respond to this post as I thought it was way off target. Then my computer blew up. I was going to say you cannot discount Bettini. In the Worlds last fall the Italians and Dutch controlled the race and the very strong Italian team was clearly riding for Bettini. He was exactly where he needed to be at the end and made no mistakes but luck wasn't with him.

I think the comment of too many cooks would be very appropriate for the US team though.

    Too bad about the crashes.

By the way this isn't Mtnlion, it's L7 who has borrowed his laptop.

Watch for posts extolling the virtues of skinny skis and carving and especially grooming.

Didn't see your post above Plakespear (this fine laptop wouldn't let me scroll down that far).

Not trying to rub it in just commenting on what I had seen. Would be much better if I could actually of posted BEFORE results were in.
