    Inauguration Photo TR (Dial-up Warning)

I got a good seat to view history and took some photos. This is why I love my Job.

Monday the 20th - Setup Day

    The South Press Riser

Our Position and Angle to the Podium

The Worker Bees weren't the only ones there that day

The Crowds were already gathering - people just hanging out on the Mall knowing they were gonna get booted at midnight...

The sun came out and it got purdy

    The chairs were ready

The People's House, all dressed up

My Producer acting like he works for a living

Tuesday, Jan. 20th - Inauguration Day

After a short night's sleep to the sounds of sirens all over Capitol Hill we finally made it back to the riser at 6:00am. Dawn broke and it got colder, since the wind picked up.

    TV Tokyo was not amused

Chillin'... literally - the guy on the left, Jon Decker, was the reporter bitten by Barney the dog.

Did I mention it was windy? What does 20 degrees w/a 20mph steady wind and no room to move translate to? Fucking Cold

First the Celebs showed up, then the dais started filling.

Find Puffy, Beyonce, and Jay Z

Sometimes Senators must wear many hats

I could have been President, Super Serial... now where's that Global Warming?

Surprised these dudes could pry their lips off their instruments

Something about Bubba -- you always know when he's around

The Queen and the Court - her man looks like he wants to beat the hell outta someone

Frau Bush - look how creepy Bubba looks...

The new First Lady and ... second Lady

Guess we gotta let him in too...

Everyone relax - he's showed up ("Psst - Global Warming!")

"You sure you wanna do this?" "Ah, what the hell."

I love this picture - it's like "WTF are you doing here?"

    Haha -- you're old!

But enough of the Tomfoolery and Shenanigans, it's time to get down to bidness.

    The crowd was ready

    Aretha belted out a tune

Joey B was Bush's VP for a bit...

Yoyo Ma, Itzack Perlman, and Black Clarinet player dude entertained us with the United Airlines Commercial

The Oath of Office was given... sorta. It was repeated again last night at the White House

Power has been transferred peacefully yet again. Say what you will about the USA, that shit doesn't get old.

Time for Speechification... wait, this isn't Bush. Time for some Truth.

    Ownin' it.

Wish I had one of these Bad Boys...

No matter how cold it was in my spot - these dudes had it worse!

and there you have it. Thank You DC!

I had to get back to work at this point (no broadcasting during the ceremony) so no more pix. Hope you enjoyed - it was worth every shiver and a day I'll never forget.

Great pics. Thanks for the behind the scenes look. Must've been very cool to be there.
Gawd those washingtonians wear some fugly hats.
    What's that thing Scalia's wearing?
Jay Z's is dope though, although I'd probably only wear it at burning man.

Cool TR, thanks for the behind the scenes peek. Once in a lifetime event can't imagine how cool to have been there that close.

the one playing the violin? what?

Nice pics mang - hey btw I got 86ed from the concert after you left (by N.!). This tall stoner Crococodile Dundee-lookin' dude in all khaki and a bandana on his head and a Aussie bushman's hat hanging down his back camped right in front of us blocking N.'s view and I tapped him on the shoulder and yelled "THAT'S NOT A KNIFE!!" much to the confusion of everyone, then N. made us leave but it's ok, the show was almost over.

I was - in the TV Tokyo shot of the Chica in the hat my camera is on the left panned away from the stage. I wa sthere to do live shots - when journalists talk live back to their home broadcasts, not to shoot the actual event itself, which was handled by the pool cameras (the ones with the really big lenses - they're the TV version of IS lenses and cost more than your average house.)

Dude. I came home, uploaded the px in Lightroom, and nearly cried. I had no idea you could go from clean as a whistle to filthier than a Bangkok boytoy in a day.
