    Which Skins for Icelantic Shamans?

I have a set of 173 Shamans. Mounted some dukes and am about to order some Black Diamond skins.

    http://www.backcountry.com/store/BLD...STS-Skins.html

My question for the icelantics are since they are 160-110-130, I'm not sure what width I should get. I was told that if I just stuck with a 110 width skin all the way from tip to tail it would be fine, but I would like a second or third opinion as I've never skinned before.

Also any links, books, articles, tutorials on skinning would be helpful, I have a friend in Vermont that skins, but I would like to get a head start before I start buggin him with questions.

Get the 130's or 140's STS skins and trim to fit. A wider skin will give you more purchase, especially when traversing. This is especially true with a ski like the Shaman with a big sidecut. I used the 130's or 140's (don't recall) for my Shamans and cut them down (letter opener style trimming tool comes with skins) to get wall-to-wall coverage, edges exposed, for nearly the entire length of the ski (i.e., the margins are exposed near the tip, where it doesn't matter). The BD STS skins should come with the current iteration of this instruction sheet: http://www.bdel.com/pdf/rm1335_e_bd_skins.pdf

    120 is more than enough.
110 is fine if you find a good sale.
130 is uber carpeted for max grip
    140 is overkill
    Kill all the telemarkers
But they’ll put us in jail if we kill all the telemarkers
    Telemarketers! Kill the telemarketers!
Oh we can do that. We don’t even need a reason

If you want to save some coin or want even more coverage (145); you could look into these skins:

I use their skins as well as BD skins and like them both but I actually prefer CSDs, “Twin Tip Skins” tail attachment and it works on skis that have even a moderately rounded tail.

    What Core Shot said.

    And read these:

And then buy this book (seriously):

Core Shot, while we are on the topic, is there any reason one should be concerned about skin coverage on a rockered section of a ski ?

I mean common sense seems to dictate that if the ski isn't touching the snow you don't really need to worry about how much skin coverage there is, but I am a skinning jong.

I just bought 120's for JJs, which are 115 in the waist. and 136 at there widest point, but that is in the rocker.
