Jackson Hole vs. Whistler Weather Patterns

I'm planning skiing for christmas this year. Because of concerns such as the fact that my family does not want to/is not willing to slum it in order to go to the last minute place with the best snow, I have to make the goddamned plane reservations today.

There are, however, a couple of things working in our favor:

    - We are getting reservations for flights to two places.

    - One of those places is Jackson Hole because a friend has a guest house attached to his house there and we can stay there free.

-The other place is yet to be determined.

We are looking for a place:
    -Good snow usually over christmas

and, most importantly [insert ooohhss and ahhhhhss because I used italics]

[b]it needs to have a different weather pattern than Jackson Hole. As in, when Jackson is not getting anything because of weather pattern b, this place might be getting something because of same said weather pattern b.

Unfortunately, my next choice, the weed, has been disqualified because of the lack of off-slope activities for the non skiers.

    Ideas?

    WTF?

Anyway, I'd say Whistler is a good choice for your second place. There's a very good chance of snow around Christmas.

I guess if you really want a different weather pattern your best bet is Europe!

Whistler's weather is different than Vancouver's so I'm sure it's different than JH. Whistler snow stats. Last year -- lots of snow at Christmas. Two years ago -- no snow for the first 3 weeks (only the Little Red was open) and then 300cm in the last week. If there's no snow you can always rent bikes and cruise the valley.
If you have a problem & think that someone else is going to solve it for you then you have two problems.

I don't know about this vs. that and looking for weather opposites, however, Jackson is an easy mountain to get burned by at Christmas. The mountain needs a ton of snow before it really begins to shine. Whistler is a much safer bet in terms of snow by Christmas as well as off slope activities. Whistler's Village is ridiculous.

Killington is often nice at Xmas.

Roll up on Mammoth with the family. Last year didn't suck a week after Xmas at least when we got like 4-5 feet over New Years.

    Plus, Lakanuki's rules.

For the last 4 years, it's been consistently deep in north Tahoe over Christmas. Hopefully ths year will be no different. There's a plethora of things for non-skiers to do here.

[hijack] Do we want the little girl or the little boy? I always get confused about global weather patterns. What was 1998 (aka AK getting pounded to shit)? ¿La Niña or El Niño? [/hijack]
    Days on snow 06-07: 3
    Days behind a boat summer 2006: 24
