Jackson Hole, Wyo. (Ski Press)-For the first time in the history of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, the Crags terrain will be opened to the public this season.
Previously a permanently closed inbounds area, this provides approximately 200 acres and 1000 vertical feet of expert terrain located above the popular Casper Lift area. Bowls, chutes and tree skiing all accessible via the Headwall “Stairway to Heaven” or from the top of Apres Vous. For an averagely fit, expert skier the hike will range in length between 25-35 minutes.
The Crags will be snow controlled and have a similar opening schedule as Casper Bowl and the Headwall based on weather conditions.
“For experts this terrain will surely become a new “mecca” and we can’t wait to get it open. Kudos to operations and Ski Patrol for figuring out a plan that will achieve what has previously been unworkable,” commented Jerry Blann, JHMR President. In addition to the new boundary that includes the Crags, this years’ JHMR trail map has named many existing runs that previously were unnamed.
In celebration of the new terrain, JHMR will offer an exclusive package for expert skiing and snowboarding guests. This package includes:
Four nights lodging in a Teton Village two bedroom, two bath condominium with Jackson Hole Resort Lodging, 3 day lift ticket at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and a JHMR Mountain Guide for one half day AM (4 hrs) with pre-public mountain access. This access will allow guests to be the first on the mountain and get fresh tracks in the Crags and other areas. While waiting for the mountain to officially open guests will be able to wait in the Bridger Gondola barn or Corbet’s Cabin where coffee and refreshments will be available.
Valid dates January 3 – February 9, 2005. Package based on 4 people. FOMO: www.jhrl.com.
