Ubersheist...total intermediate here! And I really didn't feel out of place at all at the Tahoe summit. But then I don't expect anyone to babysit me. It was just a nice bonus that folks took the time to hang w/ me on many runs.

stealth mode, eh? I'll work on making more of an appearance at the jxn summit. I'll be there for the season again, so as long as I dont have to work too much, I'll be in full force.Originally posted by Ubersheist
Absolutely. Mind you, it will be friends, not 'a friend.' There's no possible way to come out of the summit without a solid handful of good, new friends. Impossible not to. (Unless your in stealth mode, like Sherpa_Style seemed to be at the Utah Mini, although I bet she still made some new friends!)![]()
Maggettes- we'll definately have to try to organize a maggette day or a maggette tour.
Actually, I was going to say how you sucked at other things, but since you brought up skiing...Originally posted by teledave
Phew, you had me worried there for a minute that you were going to tell the truth and just come right out and say that I ski like girl. I owe you a beer or six at the Summit for that.
Did I ski with you? I don't think that I did. If you did, I certainly don't remember waiting on you... or was it that you were waiting on me? I do remember sharing a beer or two with you in the base lodge while you told tales of waiting around at airport terminals and such... Good God, I'm surprised I remember that! I usually can't even remember which bankinginstitution that I do business with.
Wait... I think we may have taken a run or two at Alta... but I can't really remember. I am not sure, but I'm not that proud and I'll take the six pack either way!
ME - I would take Snowsprite's words over mine, as she's probably in a better position to give an opinion then myself.
Honestly, I wouldn't shy away just because the bulk of the group will be more advanced. There really will be enough people there so that everyone can find thier niche.
Sherpa - you'd better not be so stealthy this next time! You denied us all your presence and your personality, for which we all were a bit disheartened from. [/sappy BS]
Actually, I just remember you saying at the brew-ha-ha at the end of the day at Snowbasin how you couldn't find any other maggots while you were skiing. Somewhere in it all, a few of us were talking and realized that no one had really seen you that weekend. I think it was that you were hanging out with your brother for most of the time.
So, we can expect a local's tour from you, right?!?![]()
God, I love getting to a resort and being shown around by a local!
I'm so out of the loop here - just saw this thread.
Gin - she's gotta come and that's all there is to it. She will have the time of her life.
I'm telling myself the same thing.![]()
Live each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influences of each.

Sorry, Gin, I'm a bit slow to pick up on this thread.
I definately am more intermediate but what I found is that the pack tends to thin out into groups that are of a similar level. Even those groups varied depending on who was taking it a bit more easy on that day (thanks to Ubersheist for his advice on a particularly gloopy Scott's Chute during our day at Alpine).
I get the feeling that as long as you're willing to give things a go and challenge yourself, no matter what level you start at, the Mags will respect you. This season, I squealed (with glee) my way down a half pipe for the first time and skied my first chute. Despite fear and apprehension, the mags who were around were encouraging and supportive.
An all maggette day would be interesting but there will still be variation in skills. I haven't seen a maggette disappear down a hill as quickly as Kellie, for example. I was still prodding at the top then fell on my ass.

I would like to be at the summit, but it sounds like she'd be better than me anyway. Most people are!
Definitely. Especially when cougar hunting.Originally posted by Mrs Roo
..definately......... I found is that the pack tends to thin out ...
Maybe. I tend not to go for the cougar, personally. You would need to ask the 20 year old male summit attendees about that.
I'm sure you will.Originally posted by Mrs Roo

And just what are you implying young man? I am a married woman, don't you know. A little long in the tooth, but definately more kitty than cougar.
Believe me, some of those Cali cougars were frightening![]()
Yep, them are real pros.Originally posted by Mrs Roo

Just keep the lights out.
I will be there if it snows, and I'm probably what you would call so-so advanced. I'll ski most anything there, but you won't find me launching my carcass off Corbet's.
oh yeah, and I'm female.![]()
Not on here much anymore. Drop me an email if you want to contact me. Have a wonderful winter!
i think us magettes will find plenty of trouble (on and off the slopestogether!
definitely, i'm for anyone helping to boost the % of girls so we won't be so outnumbered.
it kinda sucks that the JH women's ski camps are before/at the end of the summit, because they're supposed to be pretty damn good - but maybe there's an opportunity to create a private women's group lesson here.
or, all the girls who don't ride already can take their first snowboard lessons & collectively suck. (that'll make you feel better about your skiing![]()

I am spending altogether too much time around you people.
Glad to hear that there are quite a few Maggettes and female attendes. My wife will be there with me, she is a pretty decent intermediate skier, who hates skiing with me, so ladies keep her in mind when you get there. I'll pass this info on to her. I am sure she'll be happy to go ski with you, she is just not as passionate about skiing as most of us are.
cheers.
