If anyone has read though the latest Surfer Mag you may have seen the article on Surf Aid International. I found it very informative and I am excited to have learned about this group. They provide aid, medical supplies, and doctors to the Mentawais which is quite literally saving the lives of many children.

They made a great point about all the million dollar surf trip boats and the thousands of dollars people spend to surf there, yet most of them are completely ignoring the horrendous disease infested conditions faced by the indigenous people. As a surfer it is our duty to act and give back.

It got me thinking if we have, or if there is a need for, an organization like this in the sport of skiing.

What comes to mind right away for me is simply wanting to help underprivlaged kids get into the sport. I'd be interested to know if anyone knows any organizations like Surf Aid International within the sport of skiing.

I know Dean Cummings used to, and maybe still does, run a program in Taos where he took underprivliged kids to the mountain to ski for a few days. You could probably email him and ask. Go to his H20 website and see if you can find an email addy.
