Jester forward release - set with boots in or out?

I know you're supposed to check the flushness of the forward release screw with the boots clicked in but are you supposed to set it with the boots in or out?

I seriously thought you were fucking trolling...

Think about it. Why would you even ask that question. What were you going to adjust forward pressure on if there was no boot in the binding? The Air?

I was set straight...you risk stripping the threads if you adjust the forward pressure with the boot in. So if you want to think of it that way you are adjusting the forward pressure on the air. You check if it's set correctly with the boot in.

You should fucking think about it before spouting off,its a pretty valid question, its good to see someone with a bit of knowledge set him straight.

    my simple approach.

get as close as possible with boot out.

make minor! adjustments to achieve true flushness with the boot in.

    done
Do I detect a lot of anger flowing around this place? Kind of like a pubescent volatility, some angst, a lot of I'm-sixteen-and-angry-at-my-father syndrome?

    fuck that noise.

X2 best way to do it without adding unnecessary wear to the adj. screw.

I always adjust FP with the boot out, even the last one or two clicks. Put boot in, check FP, boot out, adjust, boot back in.

As I mentioned in another thread, I think the pressed slotted track is not the most robust, especially in relation to the worm screw.

In a semi related note, if you back the worm screw on the heel so that the first thread is "down" the heel slides on the track and engages the baseplate track smoothly.

As my co-worker says "work smarter, not harder."
