The only ski area in the PNW to get snow has now been cut off by rivers overflowing their banks and taking out bridges (and lives - bless them all).

To all the PNW maggots: you all realize that one inch of rain is equal to approximately one foot of snow, right? And you all realize that we had more than 4 inches of rain, right? So, had the snow level NOT been at 12 million miles (fucking pineapple express), the mountains could have conceivably opened in a couple short weeks.
Oh well. At least the top of Rainier got dumped on. looks like I'll be hiking it again, early season before the lifts open. I'll get better pics this time.
The Tolt River just tied the 3rd biggest flood record which was set in December of 1998. It's howling out there, 3 foot diameter trees klonking around as they go baling by in the raging flood, crashes and sheets of rain.
Oh yes, we're all well aware of that. With the water content in the snow that usuallly falls on the Cascades it's probably more like ten inches, but that's splitting hairs when you consider the amount of rain we got todayOriginally posted by Samwich

Its 3:30 am, burning the midnight oil trying to finish up a research proposal due at noon tomorrow. Gotta get out of here this weekend, hopefully I can find some snow to ski on.

That precip can stay in the mountains. I need some dry weather to dry out my garage![]()
Well let's see. After taking the day off yesterday, lounging around like a lazy ass, and then going out for Monday night football, ribs, and a couple of supurb manhattans, I am sitting here at my desk bored out of my mind.
