Those of you that live in the Salt lake Valley most likely saw this guy flying around over the weekend. After watching the lumbering beast fly around over our house and the valley, I can honestly say this. The men that flew in these planes over fortress Europe and the Pacific, had balls of steel!!

This is the worst pain EVER!

What's worse, living there or in Moore, OK?

Happy Memorial Day everyone. This was taken down the street from my house in Niwot, CO (just outside of Boulder)... and yes, I've posted this barn before. I learned this weekend that apparently the owners- who happen to be our neighbors- have copyrighted the location so that no one can make money off a print without their permission. Interesting.

^^^The Christian Science Museum in Boston is like that. Anyone taking pictures on their grounds are given the third degree and told they can be for personal use only. I want to sell one just out of spite. "Hey, don't take pictures of our building or our giant 'pool' from the street."

Interesting indeed. I wonder how enforceable it is (i.e. how it will hold up in court). As far as I know, no one can stop you taking a picture from public land and selling it. This includes personal and commercial buildings (exceptions are some military/sensitive government facilities). I can stand on the street and take shots of a commercial building and sell them without any problems. The only issue is if the image of the building is used to sell a product, in which case a property release is required (same as a model release). I didn't think you could copyright a "view".

No. I can take a picture of a person on the street and sell it in my gallery for someone to hang in their home without needing any release. But if Pepsi wants to use that picture to use in an ad or anything that implies that the person in the picture approves of a product (or disapproves of a competitor), then a model release is required from the person. The same thing applies to properties.

Obviously the rules are different if I'm shooting in/from a private or restricted place (e.g. a mall or a skyscraper observatory, or a national park).

There was a recent discussion about a New York photographer taking pictures from his apartment of people in the apartment across the way and selling prints of them. It was an interesting thread. Can't seem to find the discussion but here's an article on the person.

Love this image - the detail is fantastic and ravens are such amazing creatures.

Actually, it was outside, and it was everywhere.

not a new photo (shot last summer, pretty sure it hasn't been posted in here though) but new processing.

found a neat tutorial that helped with the processing in LR
