Fenris - love that first one! You should put up a full trip report! I'm sure a lot of people on TGR would find it very interesting.
Took this from my balcony this morning. -22 Celsius. That's COLD for the non-mountainous parts of Germany. Bavaria set a new record for snowfall in the month of December. Lovin' it!
I skinned back up this early this morning too. I put on all my Alaska gear and proceeded to quickly overheat in my 900 fill down puffy jacket and -100F rated mittens. I forgot that -7F really isn't THAT cold. Had a blast skiing down this on my fatties. Wish I would have had more time to make more laps, but Amsterdam for the New Year is calling

I'm planning on posting a trip report here at some point, but this is adventure number one of six months of research in the Patagonian fjords. What I'm hoping to do is post up some sort of epic, inspiring overall trip report kinda like Lane Meyer's [ame=http://tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=76405]Mount Ruapehu Crater Lake and the Coming Lahar of Hot Acid[/ame] which is one of the things that got me really interested in geology at the end of my freshman year of college.
Though you could always just go to my site alexkerney.com and read the quicker updates that I'm throwing up. Or click on the pictures to go directly to post.
Here's another pic from just above our stealth camp.

I considered this for the "Normal" contest, but it just seemed a little too normal. Mallards are just so common you kind of take them for granted, but the males really are pretty spectacular.
[edit: I guess it would help to post the photo.]

Tungurahua Volcano sits directly behind our hotel in Banos, last eruption was about 5 weeks ago. Kind of eerie knowing this thing can pop anytime.

If you live in or around Seattle (and probably even if you don't) you've seen a million pics of Mt. Rainier, but the lighting was just so good this day...

The problems we face will not be solved by the minds that created them.
^^ Try harder next time! I did mange to see some on my down under x-mas trip, but figured the locals wouldn't have taken very kindly to me whipping out the 70-200 to document the event, so I guess we're even.
Speaking of down under, I got the first of my downunder shots processed...

This is the worst pain EVER!
In 2010 I took a lot a lot of photos that I have yet to share with you'all here on TGR. Here are a few highlights in my home state of California. There are many more to see on my site, so click on any of the photos to get there

We got hit with some freezing rain today, the first time my dog has ever experienced it. He kept licking and then trying to eat the ice off of the walkway. He's now scared to go outside since absolutely everything is covered in an inch of ice. Pretty funny to watch him try to walk on it!

We've won it. It's going to get better now. You can sort of tell these things.
