If you haven't been to Antelope Canyon over in Page, you need to put that at the top of the "to do list" right along side with MV since it's only a 2 hour drive. As far as a trip report, I really need to write one some day of the journey and make a photo book...once I get thru the 1000's of photos. But that will require a massive doseage of ritalin to get that done. Until that time I guess I'll just post here in small installments. Pretty much everything that I have posted here and at the Mammoth Mountain Forums since Thanksgiving (that is not California related) is from the Arizona Road Adventure.

Some holiday stuff from this weekend testing out my new camera

still need to figure out some settings on this thing. Sometimes it gets lost in the AF since i have it on auto select and then it won't take a picture forcing me to change something and refocus or just hold the focus button.

    thanks man

its a D90. i was really psyched for how that one turned out, though it looks better on my computer screen, i don't think the export was as kind to it.

very nice! lucky you ... couldn't see a damn thing here in the San Francisco Bay Area. Then again, that lack of vis means more powder for the next few days so I can't complain toooooo much ...

Scralph - you get any weird looks when you pulled the camera out? I've done that at a few upscale places and received some odd looks, which I presumed to be looks of disapproval. I was at the Intercontinental in Obersalzburg, pulled out my camera to take a picture of the breakfast buffet, when a lady, wrapped in what looked like a lion skin and wearing a rock the size of my left nut, gave me a look of disgust. Anyway, I like your pics!

Splitter - Good stuff! Really good stuff!

Thanks Deutsch ... I wasn't really paying attention to others but the wait staff certainly didn't scowl. I set up my exposure settings beforehand so really I just had to pull the camera out from under my seat, use the chair for stabilization, and shoot quickly before resuming the meals.

It does feel a bit tacky and I could see how people (especially those who are used to spending a ton of money at places like those) would be annoyed but ... what the heck, all that stuff was gorgeous and tasty and I won't be spending that kind of money on fine dining for at least another year

Since we're doing Christmas ornaments - Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic a couple of days ago. We drove through the Czech for shits and grins on our way to Dresden. Much nicer and way more scenic than the Autobahn!

Just got my first flash (430EX II) and got a chance to try it out at the family Christmas events this past weekend. Loving the lighting versatility...
