outabounds, that shot reminds me of some thoughts I had last weekend around Thousand Island Lake and Island Pass.
I'd been contemplating fishing waders so that I could get out into lakes and open up more composition possibilities ... then I realized I would have to stand perfectly still for a couple of minutes for the beautiful water I just disturbed to get all flat and glassy again![]()

Getting in the water is more of a waterfall thing for me because it helps you get a good foreground. I don't know if that helps with reflection shots. I guess you can find out by getting wet. In that water, yeah, you're going to want neoprene. :-)
I don't know if I've mentioned it enough for anyone to notice, but this tool is priceless for planning shots with the sun or moon involved.

Maquoketa River. Formerly known as Lake Delhi till this years epic floods took out the damn - epic floods have become a part of summer around here the last few years.

nice colors, I think I like the trees comp on this one a little better but the foreground rocks on the other one a little better
I shot my whole Banner Peak series and then after the fact realized I needed to be looking to really use some of the "thousand" islands of the lake to anchor the image. I got one comp I am really happy with but the light was the most boring of the set. I'm almost done collecting photos from that set for a TR ... probably subtitled "how many photos of one mountain can a guy take in 3 days?"![]()

Chad I really like the light on those rocks - good combo of both backlight for shape & contrast and sidelight for texture on the first guy. I like the exposure.

x2.
Gotta love the fall. The skies start to get really interesting this time of year, and we all know winter is just around the corner. By the way, anybody know of an image hosting site that doesn't compromise color/image quality during the upload process? Photobucket is starting to piss me off.
One from tonight...

I like the zenfolio. I use the fancy dancy one, I'm not sure about the basic. It seems it's the same IQ, less bells and whistles, but as far as hosting, seems similar. They have a free trial I checked out and was sold.

Fuzz, between these B+Ws and your fall color shots you've been killing it man! Specifically, I like the use of DOF in these and the contrast.
Not to mention the astro-shit is outta hand. Definitely some great stuff.
A couple from the shoreline the other night.
edit: Looking at the last shot in this set, I should've used a slower shutterspeed to blur the water. The others, I like the texture of the water, but the last one I feel would've been better with the water blurred.

^You're getting some super gnarly pattern noise in those, was it like that straight out of the camera?
