All woman tri a few weeks ago. This woman was coming down the chute and saw her baby and grabbed to carry across the finish line. Kind of cool to watch actually.

Don't be that guy. That guy is dead.

Couldn't decide which one for today so here's both....coincidentally, the rainbow pic was taken on "Sundance Canyon" trail (as was the other).

Messing around with moving water without a filter (when the sun went behind the clouds).... hand held at 1/4 sec.

    /generic fireworks photos

I was asked to take a bunch of classic ones yesterday but I still had fun with some of them. The 2nd one I wanted to see what happened when i moved the camera slightly mid-photo and the result was lightning

On this one i took the last firework from the grand finale and then left the shutter open for a few minutes after. Didn't leave the shutter open long enough but I was hoping for a super bright photo with the firework in the background. It did make the firework look droopy though because it was open while the burning pieces fell into the water

    And I liked this after

CS, great photo, congrats and FKNA!

mtcham, holy rattler! Nice use of DOF. How long was the lens you were shooting, and crop or FF? What I really want to know is, how far away were you

outabounds, spill the beans, what's that light globe pattern thing?

Hey Wes, those look fun. First one is a beaut. On that last firework shot, did you leave the shutter open uninterrupted? I would think right after the last firework you could just use your hand to put the lenscap back on and wait for the smoke to clear, then take it off and expose for the background. If you were really getting fancy, I bet if there were no light sources behind you that you could even quickly screw on an ND filter and leave the finishing exposure to get some even more pronounced star trails, but then you'd be sacrificing the look of the water and its reflected light. The timing would be a bit of a bitch and a crapshoot to figure out too, but that's all part of the fun to me!

Shralph, the orb is a light device swung around on the end of a wire as the swinger turns in a circle keeping his hand centered on an axis.

    Here's a little focus blur.

It was a spur of the moment decision so I didn't really consider that, I just saw the finale and thought of leaving the shutter open at the end. It's a good call. If I'd had more time and planning I could've gotten a really sweet shot

I also considered taking a firework shot and then when they were over taking a long exposure shot and merging them but I accidentally moved the tripod so the photos wouldn't have gone together

Rattler was shot at 300mm on a crop body. I was probably 4-6 feet away, little bastards can move quick when they want. He was pretty content just sunning himself till I bugged him too much. I really wanted to shoot that old grain elevator up closer but was reluctant to go wading thru high grass in shorts. Shot the rattler about 100 feet down the road from the elevator. Very snaky area!!!

Not as sharp as I'd like and bad light but still a fun couple of pics of a friend honing his surface turns from this morning.

    Ooops.

    He sent this one.

That looks...like something bad is about 5mm from happening to his right knee!
Be careful about buying snowboard goggles for skiing. Snowboard goggles come in right eye and left eye (for goofy-footers) dominant models. This can make it hard to see correctly when skiing because you are facing straight down the hill, not sideways.
