Nothing special about these images but I thought I'd share them anyway. Very strange year here in Iowa with the rivers and lakes freezing solid in November and then thawing out by the end of December. Still some ice flows but we managed to get in a couple runs the day after Christmas. With the return of cold the lake will be all ice again tomorrow morning. Good times - brutally cold water.

Glass water in December in Iowa? Rare.

Got to snag a couple hours photographing the eagles fishing the kokanee salmon at Coeur d'Alene yesterday. Eagle count is down this year as the kokanee are coming back at Lake Pend Oreille and the eagles have a choice of where to dine.

My wife and I spent Christmas on the coast near the Canadian border. We had a couple really great sunsets!

Some great shots on this page! smmokan, really like the minimalist scene. The AD, the sticks with the bird -- very nice.

Thanks guys. I'm really surprised that shot turned out so well because I noticed it was a 0.3 second exposure. This was handheld. Thank God for image stabilization!

Just came back from a great trip to Sydney. Will post a proper TR soon, but here's a quick one of the iconic skyline:

    Agreed, way cool.

Right click -> Copy Image Location

    type "[img]" without the quotes.

    Paste

type "[/img]" at the end of the stupidly long URL, again without the quotes.

Another minimalist scene from north Boulder... not much else to take this week with the cold, snowy weather we have.

The other day I was ranting to a photographer friend about how so few professional ski photos reflect every day skiing, and how most of it was just about capturing that one turn, even if one turn was all the skier did.

    Then today I took this:

^ I love the subtle tones and colours in this one, but wondering if maybe it wouldn't be even better with perhaps the top quarter cropped off -- basically getting rid of the sky above the (prominent) red cloud bank/front.

Taken a few days ago in Obertauern, Austria. This shot made it into the final round of the Arc'teryx Deep Winter Photo contest, but it still needs some votes...would be great to get some help from the community (if you like the photo, of course). thanks!
