I think the key on these types of photos is the use of 2nd curtain flash which fires near the end of the exposure time frame. While holding the G10 in front of me, I was spinning in circles inside a room with several ceiling light fixtures and moving the camera around to create additional effects. About a second before the exposure was up, I stopped moving so that the camera would grab my face in focus. Only post-production work I did was to dampen any unnecessary background lighting.

shutter at 5 seconds
ISO 80
f/8.0
flash set to 2nd curtain on highest level
EV at -2
Pretty sure I had the ND filter turned on so that I could allow for a 5-second exposure without the final image being too bright.
