Looking for:
Solly 916's w/wide brakes or Look P18 w/wide brakes (do these even come up wide brakes?)
me too!
I'm hunting for some to sell,
As always, I'll post here first if I find some.
PM team dirt. He might have some big look bindings with fat brakes ?
i need some too...for my bro models. then i need to learn to ski gooder.
heh...I think we're all looking for them for our Bro Models, no?
..but I got first dibs on anything offered here since you guys are mooching off my thread
FYI -- if worse comes to worse, and you definitely want race-stock bindings, check out www.salomonrace.com to find a shop near you that gets the S-Lab stuff.
You can't get P18's with wide brakes, since the brakes arms are somewhat integrated with the heel piece. I have some Rossi Race 18's which are the same binding as the P18's which I broke one of the brake arms off trying to get them around my Legend Pros. So I'll sell those to anyone cheap if they want them. Brand new, still in box, never actually mounted to anything.
OOOOOOOHHHH, I'm the Juggernaut, bitch!

Woodland sports on E-bay sports 'em for $228. Not great, but less than the $350 or so most shops who cary them will charge you. Besides that, I'm keeping all of mine.Originally posted by Tyrone Shoelaces

Brakes an additional $30. Have a friend who has a few pair if needed.
edit, $399 retail, and if you have a USSA card, it's $197 on the race website.

You just spread the suckers. Gently though. (feeling bad for bakerboy's prom date)
Need to use the risers though.
Its not quite that easy. The brake arms of the Rossi/Look P18's are tempered steel, so they don't just "easily bend"... Maybe mbs will chime in, he was there. We reefed on those things till they blew out of the heal piece. And then I got pissed and took a torch to them. I heated one up really hot like and bent it, but it cracked from the extra heat. If I couldn't get it around a 90mm waist, I wish you the best of luck with a 99mm waist.
Sorry Tyrone, just trying to help you out... I can't contractually use them anymore, so they are just sitting around collecting dust. $100, and all you have to do is get a piece of metal rod and bend your own brake arm and replace it. But if you want to pay full retail for some Salomon's, knock yourself out. Not everyone is made out of money.![]()

Bakerboy--
How wide will those brakes go? any chance at 87mm
bending the p18 or zr brake is much easier if you take it apart and use a vise to clamp it. i found heating them made them really brittle, and broke one too. luckaly look sent me an extra heel piece. then i bent them sans heat very nicely (i used a piece of pipe thicker than a ski pole and went really slow) and got quite a functional bend on a 105 waisted ski. getting the brake back together is the hard part.

I have Look ZR's on my 90 waisted Nobis's and yeah, I couldn't bend those fackers either, I'm guess I'm just not carry'n as much as heft as Monster Dump![]()
Bent ZRs on an 87 waist no problem, so Karma you shouldnt have a problem.
I was thinking just cut the suckers , and a little steel tube the same diameter, and take weld it in between where it was cut. Then you could fit them on any ski.
Tyrone, if you can wait until the fall, I'll pick some up at the CVA swap meet. They have tons(as well as tons of cheap Super G and DH boards).
Same goes for the Dartmouth swap meet.

I broke one on a pair I was trying to bend and was able to fix it by taking the brakes out of a pair of old Looks (can't think of of what they were off hand). Like Basom said, put them in a vice, no heat and you're good. I think they are supposed to be 'non-removable', but with a flat screw driver they're easily removable.
Please note: I'm not sure that my bindings actually release after my modifications because they've never come off. Although, I guess that is sort of the point of high din bindings....
CantDog -- thanks man appreciate the offer. If I find something in interim, great, but if not, I may take you up on that offer.
i want some too cant. although i'll prolly end up at dartmouth myself this year.
I'll probably drive down for that one too. Were you there this past year? Didnt bill buy like 10 pairs of green springs?
And maybe you slackers will go skiing in the afternoon.
if by ten, you mean one, then yes. he also got some snappy 145cm swivel sticks. they look hilarious in his quiver. all shaped and short and stuff.
we bought all that we could including everything they had that wasn't on the sales floor, but there were like 5 of us so we didn't do that well--i only ended up with markers. and the slalom skis were ones i got from dickie for trading him a bunch of broken stuff. one year we got a bunch of 9-16 and 14-20 s900s taht were just sitting out, last couple of years have been slim pickins--not worth the trip unless you're going for the homecoming festivities as well.Originally posted by CantDog

and as far as slacking that weekend, i would much rather have taken my 2 day old jeep 4wheeling than hiked all the way up and down mt. WA for 5 turns down the chute. but that's just me.
Yeah, turns sucked, but it increased by badassity by a factor of 12. Dumbassity also went up dramatically.
Did you buy those T@nkers that were there? I remember some tall still-drunk irishman checking them out after i put them down.
Overall, that swap pretty much sucked.
speaking of broken bindings...you know when colin gets back? that bitch owes me some axioms.
that fucking bitch owes me money for the brandie new dualie i gave him for the trip to south america he bailed on.
beat it out of him for me cantdog.
last week of august i think.Originally posted by CantDog

and no, no tankers for me. i have the original version--195 iggy FC.
i'm calling you out on those FC's. there is no way in hell those can be classified as skis anymore. i'd say there is about ten inches of edge intact, and the bases are 100% epoxy at this point. you've done skied them to death. they are gone.
