BMC NYC Cycling championships

In one word - dull.

You can only watch guys go around in a circle so many times.

Few buddies and I watched the start. Went to get beers after 20 minutes. Came back. No change. Went to bar. More beers. No change. More beers. Watched the last couple of laps. Went home.

The should have run a number of races during the event. Say six miles each, allowing the teams to settle and get up to speed. The winner is the cyclist who places highest in the most races. The racing gets exciting in the last few laps as the pace quickens. For most of the the day, the crowd wasn't really into the race. Kind of meandering around lower Manhattan. Or maybe that was just me in a drunken haze.

Man U. vs. A.C. Milan comes in a close second for a dull afternoon. Its great to see the big teams, but pre-season is pre-season, and the play was weak and uninspired.

Those bikers always draw the short straw with the weather when the come to New York. It is always humid and hot as balls.
