When does Jay Peak get hammered??

We're possibly planning a trip there March 5th-8th, and was wondering if that is still a good time to go. I assume that they'll still have good base, but so they usually get storms still? I couldn't find a link that shows snow total averages by state and by date.
Low post count because I'm too busy working and then skiing, but not neccessarily in that order.

Definitely still a good time to go. I would check to see if they're running any dumbass promotions that weekend ("Jeep Owners Appreciation Day!") because those are usually in the spring and usually create a complete shit show, but the weather's as good then as any time else- seems to me like the biggest storms are usually around that time.

late feb-mid march is best for northern VT. the base usually maxes out first week of march, and it's usually the snowiest time. if you're only going for 3-4 days who knows if it'll get hammered. if its busy there, head down the road to smuggs- they get a lot of snow, too, have better terrain imho and can often be dead midweek if its not a vacation week.

in agreement with ono. I have skied both smuggs and jay for the past 4 years. Mid february- early march has seen some solid storms with luls in weather throughout january. Both are dead midweek as long as its not a holiday. Jay's goods are more easily located if you've never been to either, but smuggs has great out of bounds down to the notch road between there and stowe. - jaypeakresort.com - coditions and weather tab-snowfall chart- click on year to see previous by month

Thanks guys. I thought that Smuggs was more of a family resort and as such had more groomed runs. I am not a fan of driving 5 hours to ski groomers. I have heard that Jay has great tree skiing.

Jay is much better if you only have a few days and no tour guide.
Unless its all ice, you will have a great time everywhere on the mountain - plenty of terrain, trees and options.

Oh, and it always gets hammered on March 9th (21 of the past 20 years), so you will miss the best conditions and have a hard time driving home.
