    CNN DNC snafu

Anyone else watch the acceptance speech on CNN? Through to the end?
CNN somehow got the audio-feed of the guy in charge of all the post-speech theatrics to go out with their signal. So I'm sitting there as Kerry is greeting everyone on stage, and I start hearing a guy say "Go balloons! Go balloons! Hold confetti! Hold confetti!" A few more instructions like that, and then when there still aren't enough balloons, "More balloons! More balloons! We need more balloons!" So my wife and I are laughing, and start joking about what would happen if the guy were to start swearing at his underlings. The audio continues for about two more minutes, and then sure enough, "Where the hell are the balloons? We need more fucking balloons!"
That finally woke up Wolf enough to get him to cut in.
Not Janet's nipple, but pretty funny. And completely incompetent on CNN's part.

haha, I missed that, I was watching his speach on CSPAN, commercial free, no commentary, just the man talking. I don't like major networks coverage of these things, I can understand what the politicians are saying and form my own opinions about it. I don't need a crack squad of news anchors breaking everything down into laymans terms for me.

On that note, I thought Kerry's speech was pretty damn good. I would vote for him if I was old enough to. Hopefully I will in 2008 [antijinx]

    Thumbs up

LOL my lily-white A off! God, I have to get a copy of that feed. Wolff is just punchin' the clock these days. Scud Stud, Snooze Spud.

    More balloons! More cowbell!

I watched on FoxNews just to see what they say about Kerry. We were taking shots every time he said values. The first 15 minutes or so was nothing, but then Kerry started getting into it and I must've downed 6 or 7 tequillas in real short order, cause we ran out of the 20 or so shots we had ready to go.

He must have been pretty good, cause Bill Kristol, Britt and company really couldn't find very many negatives in the post-speech breakdown. Kerry should get a good bounce.

I missed it because I fell asleep at that point

Here's a link to what Dex was saying - there is an audio clip there as well.

Thought it was funny that the we were only seeing flurries when they had been bragging about an epic 100,000 balloon dump.
Damn, we're in a tight spot!

    Dex,

I saw/heard it. I was so annoyed that I switched to MSNBC after a minute or so. He had already said, "Jesus guys, get it together -- we need more balloons".

Totally brutal and bush league by CNN.

Second only to OLN missing Lance crossing the finish line. Especially since their coverage had been so good.

    New poll out today:

"Will the lack of balloons released after Kerry's speech impact your vote in November?"

Didn't see it. But considering CNN had nothing to do with the [winnebago man] fucking balloons[/wm], why would that reflect negatively on CNN?

Wouldn't that be a negative reflection on the organizers of the DNC?

Why would CNN putting that audio on their feed reflect on the DNC in any way? It was CNN's broadcast, not the DNC's. The guy obviously had no idea his mic was live, and sitting at home I was able to figure out what was going on about 5 minutes before anyone at CNN woke up.
Completely unprofessional, but CNN has never been accused of journalistic brilliance. They're just not usually in the NY Post's league.

As an event planner, I can fullly appreciate this! If people could hear what I'm saying during a production, they'd blush .

I can't believe nobody picked up Kerry's statement
"We will use our Special Forces for terrorist actions"
    and ran with it.

I thought I heard them say regarding the lack of the balloons and confetti...

What the fuck are they doing up there?

I said to myself, what the fuck was that?

he corrected himself, with "anti-terrorist missions" right away.

not a good place to stumble though.
he was also playing 'the repeter' with the entire delegation.
