Anyone got some info on the conditions in the Desolate Wilderness / Mt. Tallac Summit trail? I'd like to do a summit of Mt. Tallac this weekend, but I haven't heard anything about the conditions of the summit trail.

did you head up there? trying to plan a trip for this weekend
Chance of mosquitos is very low.
Santa brought us a big present last week in the form of 24+ inches of dry, fluffy pow over Christmas Eve and throughout the next day. At elevation, there was just enough to cover most of the terrain save for some of the larger rocks. Not enough to feel confident on twisting the throttle and openin' er up, but good enough to get some waist deep blower shots in the trees where it drifted and piled. Some nice turns were found on Waterhouse Peak even before the Christmas storm settled in.
This week though the temps have risen to the 50's even at elevation. (7500'-8000') Warm, slushy snow consistency. Slopes over 35º are showing wet release slides and jellyrolls on Mt. Rose, Tallac and the Carson area. Maybe good for one more day or so. Some snow forecasted for Monday night, haven't seen it yet as of 8pm PST. Warm throughout the week with a 30% chance of flakes on Friday night.
Pray for snow.

Still no snow as of yet since Christmas. 10 day out forecast is showing sunny 45º-50ºF daytime highs all week. Some small pockets of slush to be found in the afternoons, but it will be packed resort groomers by the end of the week if the weather pattern holds... Perfect timing, my wife and I just finished our new splitboards! Everyone; a collective Pray for Snow, please!
