    EC Mtb Summit

Plake brought this up in the other Summit thread, and there seemed to be some interest. I for one can't pull off a week long trip out west, but a long weekend up north is totally doable.

I am in no way stepping up as an organizer, I'm just putting this out there to gauge interest. I've been dying to hit Platty and Diablo, and I know we've got a sizeable contingent of EC mags that are into that sorta thing. If there's enough interest, we could even try to make it a trail riding/DH kinda thing to keep everybody happy.

I've got very few engagements from here until the end of the season, so i'm pretty open for dates. Seems like sometime between late August and mid September would be ideal.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

Unfortunately, I can not volunteer the 'rent's place as a campground for any such event. They're doing construction on the house this summer/fall.

    EC summit

From everything I've heard, Mt Creek is going off. Everybody is loving the place, some have been blowing off Plattekill completely. Wish I could join you but weekends are when my bike shop is the busiest. I'll be thinking of you guys while I toil away...

i am down, but my weekends (except for this coming one) are pretty much facked for getting down that way until about sept (by the way, the weekend after this one i'm planning on hitting bolton valley for the freeride thing).

and if it were to happen i'd vote 2 days at diablo over platty--if i want chundered loose rock i'll stay around here.

if its in the second half of september i could prolly make it to be digital recorder of stunts and waddage. should be doing some minimal off road by then, but would be down if you boys will slut it up for me (provided i can get my gimpy ass to the hot drops and stunts).

L8, Nope I've never been, have you? Me and some friends have been talking about heading down there. At this point it's looking like I'm going to have to choose between a trip up north or a trip down south. I don't think I'll be able to afford both.

There are a few of us heading to Snowshoe this weekend. If we can't put together something at Diablo, or if you feel like making a couple trips, let me know cause I'm only a couple hours from Snowshoe.

Ah man, so many places, so little time/money.

That wasn't my intention. I can go to Snowshoe anytime, so I'd prefer to do something up towards you guys. I've heard so many good things about Diablo, I really want to try to make it up there. I figured if I can ride it w/ a bunch of maggots, that'd make it even better.

However, if everybody wanted to come down here, I'd be fine with that. I just figured that was pretty far out of the way since most of the EC mags are in the north.

well if you can find your old non-drive side crank (i have the drive side in my parts bin for some reason) i have a bb cup you could use if dickless would come pick it up.

I'll make the trip if some other folks want to drive down. I dont have my DH bike anymore, so but hopefully I'll have a new DH singlespeed hardtail built up by this fall that I could use. Either way I'll have a bike I can use, just couldnt drop crazy shit with it.

Unless Basom wants to let me borrow his bike, cause he is a gimp.

cant, you can use the elsworth if it all works out. bring you XC setup so i can be mobile enough to shoot you guys. (small framed DH single speed won't likely be a friendly pedel position for this guy)

No one needs to change summit locations on my account. I say diablo all the way. But for my "liven in the middle of kenfucky at least 700 miles from anything normal" self, I'll have to pass. although I'll keep you posted on the windrock and snowshoe trips to see if you want to get in on the action. All of my buddies go to wind rock and rave about how great it is, so this weekend we might be going down there? Right now my thing is finding the time. I'm off to Poland and new york in the next 8 weeks. both trips taking two weekend each out of the equation. maybe a mini in the middle of no where summit at snow shoe in sept. would be cool.

I'd be interested but have no idea yet when/where would work for me. Non-committal enough?

Sounds good, you can have your pick of hardtail or fs.

I'm gonna go ahead and nominate basom to be the organizer of this deal. Since he's gimped out, we can just feed him appreciation beers without risking his safety. It's looking like there are only going to be a few of us at best, so any organization will probably just involve picking a date, and making lodging suggestions.

I've never ridden either mountain (Platty or Mtn Creek), so I'll leave it up to those w/ experience to decide which one to hit. I've heard good things about both.

from what i've heard/seen i'm going to vote in for mt. creek.

and i wouldn't nominate basom to organize his sock drawer, let alone a mini-summit.

so who we gots in the area that can put us up?

as far as dates the weekends of the 8/14 and 8/21 are out for me.

other than that i'm free, but the fact that bolton valley opens up for lift served riding the weekends of 8/6 and the first weekend in sept bears mentioning, as i'd like to be there for that business.

i don't have a sock drawer, smart guy, they live in a pile on my bed.

i will be in charge of picking the dates and saftey cordinator, which is very important.

Wow, just checked out Mtn. Creek's website, looks nice! If I can make it, I'll definitely bring my camera so I can use that as an excuse for not maiming myself on some of that stuff.

[slight hijack] - bag, you gonna be around Snowshoe on Aug. 21? Think I'm gonna be up Wisp that weekend, might be interested in trekking down to see what they have to offer. It's just such a far drive - from anywhere - that I'm not sure it's worth it, since there's plenty of good stuff around Wisp already.[/hijack]

I think I'll be on my way back from the beach on that weekend (just got reminded of that little obstacle). I'm not sure exactly when we'll be coming back. Wisp is only 45 minutes from here, so if I'm in the area I could come ride w/ you. I've only ridden Wisp once, and I only rode the DH course, so my experience is limited. But, IMO Snowshoe is loads better. It is a pain in the ass drive though, so I guess it's six of one half dozen the other.
