I am in negotiations for a job in Anchorage. Wondering if the housing market is as shit there as it is in the rest of the US. Any words of wisdom for buying a home in the Anchorage area?

About to close on our first home. Stoked!
Anything under $300k is fairly competitive.

market here is healthy, inflated if anything. $200k here gets you a townhouse in the city. an actual house in the "nicer" parts of town is $250+
If you're going to be here for 5-10 years though I'd look at picking up a duplex or something...lots of renters here.
