We have stayed at the Westin north of down town (Nuevo Vallarta) a handful of times, family timeshare. Nice amenities, beachfront, and pools. Right next to the marina so nice if you are looking to charter a boat which we usually do for fishing or going to the Marieta Islands. Closer to the Airport, and driving to Sayulita Punta Mita. Further from downtown but not a bad cab ride.

Appreciate the suggestions. Ended up booking a 2 bedroom suite at the Club Regina near the marina. Not all inclusive, which is what we wanted. Away from the downtown and with much better beach, but close enough for an easy cab ride to hang on the Malecon and eat out. The suite option was pretty key.

I've been to PV at least a dozen times but not for many years, pretty psyched to get back there! My kids were there when they were very little but don't remember it at all. Here's a pic of them with their cousin on one of the infamous chicken buses. [emoji3]

That's the place we have a timeshare at. It splits the area with the Westin but last time we were there it seemed to be more walled off between the two. Nice little decks with a tub on it, good views of the fireworks and stuff at night. The pools are awesome, huge iguanas swimming with you. Swim up bar. Breakfast buffet at the Regina and restaurant are good. The restaurant on the beach on the Westin side is a nice fancy dinner spot, better food/wine/service/prices than anywhere else we have gone in town and you can walk there. There's a Starbucks in the Westin, just in case, I found that I needed that some mornings.

Activities at the hotel are kinda lame. We went out on kayaks and they are pretty strict on where you can go and all that. Probably better for kids and outgoing individuals.

Beach is nice with a swimming area, cabanas and such. Still dudes trying to sell you stuff "no gracias, no gracias, NO GRACIAS!"

There's a grocery close by on the main highway, just a few miles down the road. A few decent restaurants across the street and stuff.

The marina is decent. Businesses seem to come and go depending on the economy and season. A bunch of decent restaurants around there. Some big ass Yachts to gawk at.

Went last year but this year we are going to Todos Santos.


PS don't let them suck you into the timeshare presentation at Regina. They will try, just a warning.

^^Thanks for the tips, yeah we'll be wary of the sales pitch. Funny thing is my parents had a timeshare for 30 years just across the marina at what is now the Crown Paradise. They spent a couple weeks every winter there (which is where us kids would frequently meet them) and several months in between traveling the backroads of Mexico. Eventually they settled in San Miguel de Allende. We visited them there once, cool town with a nice community of ex-pats. I really liked their place in PV but it's all inclusive now and recent reviews aren't great. Otherwise we probably would stay there for old times sake. My parents knew every nook and cranny of PV, all the obscure restaurants far from the strip, greeted the owners by name. I took a bus there once from Nogales to meet them. Damn good times back in the 80s and 90s. Not sure what it's like now but I guess we'll find out.

Condominio El Anclote in Punta De Mita = low key, 3 minutes to the surf, excellent food nearby, very few tourists etc etc. If we go back we would probably stay there again.

HIGHLY suggest going into the mountains and checking out San Sebastian and Mascota. Mascota is fucking dope.

Being able to visit PV for a couple weeks each winter while traveling the country seemed to work out well for my parents. It was a 3 bedroom corner unit and was a great gathering place for our family over the years. Kind of nice to know you'll always be in the same place. But yeah, my siblings and I sometimes joke that our parents are the only people in history who liked their timeshare.

^^^^ I have used my parents timeshares for over 20 years. Worked out well for me. Had a penthouse in Maui for 2 weeks for my honeymoon, cost us like $500. Have used them all over.

Well the fact that a Brice and Whitney spend their winters there is everything you need to know about Sayulita.

LOL, this Brice and Whitney are likely the exact opposite of whatever you picture…. ;-)

The restaurant there is also fantastic. I enjoyed the bus ride, it followed the coast for a while before turning off into the mountains.

We took a cool paddleboard/snorkeling tour out to Los Arcos. Much better way to see it than by tour boat.
