    Medical advice needed...seriously...

I was chilling on the couch, stood up and walked sbout 10 feet, felt dizzy BAM! I can't remember anything except waking up on the floor with my arm & leg twitching (like a dog chasing rabbits in his sleep). I smacked my head, scraped the shit out of my back, cut my arm and leg. From the looks of things I fell into one of floor speakers as it has streaks fuzz from my shirt all over the front panel. I have a very odd taste in my mouth and am feeling very out of it. Can I walk this off or should I get some medical help? I'm kinda freaked out.

BTW I am 100% sober, not hung over or on any meds.

Have someone drive you to the hospital NOW! Sounds like you had a seizure and that is not cool at all.

Blood drawn on my leg and arm, entire left shoulder blade is road rash from hell and a nice goose egg on the back of my head...I gotta start wearing my helmet more.

    Hey C,
I don't think that you had a seizure, but what the fuck do I know!

Probably just fainted - it happens. That happened to me once but I was wasted several ways to Sunday. If you feel better now, I wouldn't waste your time going to the E-room on a weekend and consult with your general physician in Monday - just my 2 cents.

    Hope that you're feeling better.

P.S. - I heard back from Ellen and it looks good. I will check with my wife and then throw down on the deposit. Let's talk tomorrow.

    Late, RK

Sheesh. Sorry to hear that, dude. Had you eaten anything in the previous couple hours? Could be the very first time you've ever noticed you're hypoglycemic.

Orthostatic hypotension. But that's the sign of what happened, rather than the cause.

Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better dood. That sounds scary. Keep us posted.

And fine work, by the way, of keeping up the fine maggot tradition of severely injuring yourself yet immediately (or as soon as you came around) posting about it on powd..er, make that tetongravity.com. I think calling a doctor would be better in your case, though.

Hospital now and someone drives like many have said. Sounds like a seizure to me and I used to have them when I was a kid. The road rash on the shoulder sounds like it may have been caused by doing the funky chicken on the carpet when you were down. I believe the funny taste in the mouth is also a classic symptom. The scary thing is not so much the seizure but a whole host of things that could have caused it.

Are you still there? Go for chrissakes!

    Wink

Why you askin' a bunch of dentists questions like this?

Man, go see a doc. If all it was was simply passing out from standing up too quickly, be prepared to take a lot of shit.

I think the "no booze" is the problem.

But seriously, if you're feeling okay now, there's no need to run to a hospital imho. Chill and schedule a serious physical as soon as possible.

i've done that before. couple times, actually. back when i was 13-15 years old. right down to that weird-ass taste in my mouth....

never did get to go see a doctor about it, my dad's a doc, and he didn't act too concerned about it, so....

really can't hurt to get it checked out, though, it wouldn't seem.

Hmmmmm. I agree, it sounds like a seizure. If I remember, the taste in the mouth might indicate a temporal lobe seizure, I could look it up, but i am too lazy. the fact that you didn't feel quite right afterwards doesn't fit well with 'passing out', but could be a post-ictal state. (people who aren't quite all there after a seizure are said to be 'post-ictal').

I agree you need to see a doc and try to describe what happened as best as possible.

BTW, did you lose control of your bowel or bladder? Also, how long were down?

another cause is low blood sugar. coupled with less blood being in the upper body, low blood sugar will worsen it; dizziness, shortness of breath, and you're vision will turn completely black; has happened to me so many times i've probably been *yay* close to passing out, but i haven't, so that's that i suppose

posting about it on powd..er, make that tetongravity.com
should tetongravity be shortened to "TG" ? tetongravity is too long, and my fingers are lazy. tetongravity is... 12 letters. TG is 2.

    please?

Talked to the doc and will have tests done this week. I feel fine now and aside from the bruises am showing no ill effects. I was down anywhere from 10 seconds to 5 minutes. I have no idea as I was home alone. I did not shit or piss myself. The main concerns my doc expressed were corinary related but felt it was most likely some sort of orthostatic hypotension which means you had a drop in blood pressure related to your postural position (i.e. going from laying down to standing up). The movements in my arm and legs seem to have been from whatever I hit them on...some sort of nerve reaction. Like I said, I went down hard and have a 3 inch gash on my shin, a 6 x 6 inch grating of my shoulder blade, a cut that runs the entire length of the back of my forearm and a decent lump on my head. It was pretty freaking scary to wake up on the floor having no clue what the fuck was going on, not a good feeling at all. I've taken some pretty good hits over the years and this was by far the most bizarre sensation.
