If you are a Freshman at Duke this fall - don't buy an iPod

On August 19, 2004, Duke University will be distributing 1,650 20GB iPods to all incoming freshman during their orientation as part of an effort to "creative uses of technology in education and campus life," according to a statement. Another 150 are slated for other academic and support needs, and all of them become the property of their recipients. Computer ownership isn't mandatory for incoming freshmen, so Duke will enable those students to hook up their iPods to computers at labs around campus.

crazy, I suppose after paying their huge tuition you deserve an ipod.

I'm more frustrated by the fact that I bought my 20 GB ipod 2 months ago (after repeatedly checking to see if an upcomnig price cuts or new models were coming out, most people said not a chance) and now the new ones are $100 cheaper and 12 hour battery life errrrr. Technology is madening sometimes

This thread made me think of a question that I had not thought ot ask here. I'm looking for a pda for work, I need one that can do my scheduling, contact management, excel sheets so I can do estimates and invoicing on it, and heres the kicker one that I can hook up to a printer in my truck so I can print off said invoices and estimates on the fly (is there one that can do this). Any good suggestions?
