10,500 feet. N & NE aspects were alright, fairly wind scoured. At 9,500 and below on N & NE the rain episode had had its way with the snow. The rain crust was nasty and stout.

On S and SE at 10,500 ft., the first 300-400 feet off the ridge had a 1"-2" wind slab. Very brittle and sensitive. Clean shears on this slab, but wouldn't propagate very far. Below 10,000 feet, the snow was awesome on S and SE. Very creamy and fun all the way down at about 12pm.

Utah's gone flacid. Shouldn't have thrown so much money into that prop 8 thing. Shows what side God is really on.

just talked to a bud up near solitude earlier today. said snow was horrible, dust on top of [something unintelligible] and only place it had depth was north aspect. anyone to the contrary or with any other details? would really like to do a tour tomorrow even if shitty. need turns.

I skied flagstaff today. Besides mainly skiing on rocks and there being no snow left, what I did ski was the crustiest shittiest snow I've laid my skis upon. I went to Alta for free skiing after 3 which was pretty fun actually. Seems like the best snow is what has been worked by skiers.

Skied Alta this a.m., groomers were fun - could lay some solid turns into them. But anything off-piste was just horrible. I mean, horrible. You couldn't pay me to go backcountry right now.

upper elevation north aspects are faceting to the ground. west aspects have a melt freeze crust with NW to W having several buried crusts that will support some weight before becoming active. south aspects don't seem to have much snow except the leeward ridgelines. the rime layer seems to have broken down on all aspects due to a variety of aspect specific reasons. what is left might not be a huge issue by the time we get significant snowfall. i'd like to see some wet and heavy to stick to the bare areas and clean out those areas with crusts and weak snow. after that, just let it snow some more.

Lots of shiny snow out there on Saturday. The sun/rain crust were slick, solid, and abundant. They existed everywhere except shady locations.

    Bad skiing, but good climbing.

There was surprizingly good snow to be found over in the area of ballroom just past the rope. chalky/corky edgable...all in all very nice..lapped it from 1-4.

Sunspot was ummm...teeth chattering. Never warmed.

I made one lap exactly there. I would give it a rating of 'skiable', not much more. And not much fun IMO. But, something to ski off-piste at least, I guess.

Yep. Conditions were good. Snow was a bit sugary, which created some interesting foot holds, but overall the temps were great and there was no wind at all.

I'd pm that to APD so he and the boys have a heads up on that sit.
