racing tomorrow, but really want a doughnut today

My work brings in doughnuts every friday and I really, really try to refrain from eating them, but I'm really struggling not eating one today, help. Is it going to be a big deal if I just have one?

Edit: I don't think my nemesis is eating a doughnut today

this is why you should always have a box of 'Alpen' near by. if you ever feel the temptation for other things, just turn to the oats instead. normally does the trick and makes you forget about the dough-boy pretty quickly.

Stick to eating healthy and you won't have to wonder if it hurt you any, right?

My office is the same way - krispy cremes everywhere, but I'm not giving in anymore.

Bringing my own healthy food definitely helps me not be tempted by the garbage everyone else is eating...

Last Friday night before my RR I threw down alot of pizza, cookies and handfuls of white chocalate chips. I got Top Ten in CAT 1,2,3 road race. I felt fine and had adequate energy in the race.

Eat a few doughnuts, it's not going to make or break your performance, it will likely enhance it and you'll end up on the pdium.

Your probably right in that it's not going to hurt your performance physically, but I think it depends on how it affects your mental attitude. If you eat donuts and don't give a damn and they don't seem to affect anything - that's fine. If you eat them and during the race you're going to be wondering if you shouldn't have... or thinking that your nemesis has better discipline than you - don't do it.

Every time you get a craving for a donut, just go shave your legs.

Dude, I'm pretty sure you could eat a box of doughnuts everyday for a month before you saw any difference. I know sometimes I'll go on a three day binge eating full bags of doritos, fast food, and half gallon containers of ice cream, with lots of beer thrown in. I'll go to the gym and weigh myself, maybe put on a pound

p.s. I normally like to wait two days between my three day binges.

Eat the thing & Win: Heh. You kicked ass, AND you did it on donut fuel. Take that, sukkas.

Eat the thing & lose: So what? You had fun, and you probably could have won if you hadn't eaten the donut. See you next week, sukkas.

Justify it, and it becomes ok.
    It's idomatic, beatch.

Whew, thanks guys, that was close. I had it sitting on my desk before I pawned it off to a co-worker.

You're probably right about it not mattering, but helps me mentally.

This will either help you or offend you when you think about donuts - Krispy Creme - Why did they name their donuts after dried up cum?

Hmmm....well, I should've eaten the doughnut. He wasn't there this weekend, I moved up to expert and got my ass kicked. I don't think it was so much the "move up" though as it was how I felt. It was 4 laps, the first two I thought I was going to die, got passed A LOT, the second two I actually felt really good and passed most people who passed me, but didn't have enough real estate left to be competitive. I had too much left at the end though, oh well, next race. Oh, and I will be eating doughnuts this friday.

You should have had a Twinkie just before the start. Instant energy that would have got you through those 1st 2 laps. Well, what was your overall place? And how many more guys are in expert?

Phil...what are you racing? Mtn or road? A few buds of mine are racing from up here in logan on a mtn. bike circuit and have been killing it. One took 6th in XC nationals last year and another 10th.

Stoy, I've been doing mountain, but contemplating getting into road, seems like fun. I've just been on the local utah tour though, nothing big. It would be fun to do some Norba stuff, it sounds like your friends are doing those, but I gotta get a lot faster.
