    Head Monster

Has anyone out there skied on the 01-02 Head Monster w/ the 85mm waist? (or other 85mm Monsters) The ski is grey near the tip. Would it feel similar to any of these other skis I have:
    Dynastar 4x4 Big - 188cm
    Volkl G4 - 188cm
    Fischer Big Stix - 190cm
Would the Monster be a good addition to my quiver or just duplicate what I already have?

    Shredhead,

Thanks. The Monsters are new and my three similar pairs are well used. I was thinking about adding a potential replacement. I have three wider pairs (Big Stix 106, Chubbs, and Pocket Rockets), though I would also like Dynastar Legend Pro Riders (if affordable) and need to try the new PM Bro Models when possible.

The monsters would be a good everyday ski if your others are nearing the end of the line. Especailly if you can get them cheap.

The Legend Pros are a sweet ride, but I don't think I can justify spending that kind of coin on a single pair. Even pro deal is more than I usually spend. I usually set a limit of $300 for unused skis, so I am usually skiing on 2-3 year old stuff.

They were available at a cheap price ($99), but I didn't act fast enough, and someone else got them first (193cm). They still have a 180cm pair, but that would be a little too short for me. I usually demo before I buy skis, even if I wait a year until the price is right. I also ski on mostly 2-3 year old skis.

Vets - you gotta check out the BroModels before you buy any of the skis you're thinking about. They will truly rule and we're gonna do a maggot special at $450 new. The LPs were a major source of inspiration on this ski, but our goal is to outdo it. If you're in Reno in a couple weeks, PM me, and I'll show them to you. We're testing out a new flex this week at Hood and I believe it will be totally dialed in on this go around.

I'm skiing on the 180 Monsters and they are the best skis by far I've ever had. I don't think you can lose buying those, especially for $99. That being said, I skied the bros at hood and they are going to be GOOD!
In drove this drunken madman and stopped on a dime! Unfortunately the dime was in Mr. Rococo's pocket!

Yes. I'm definitely interested in a ski that outdoes the LP. What days will the test models be up at Hood? There is a good chance that I will be up at Hood this coming Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (7/23-7/25).
I was in Reno yesterday picking up my wife from the airport. I go up to Reno about once or twice a month. I'll PM you the next time I'm up in Reno.
