ripping mpeg files into DVD format?

I dowloaded a few gigs of mpg files from limewire but i dont want to keep these saved on my work laptop for obvious reasons

How can i burn it into DVD format? I've burnt them onto a disc in its current mpeg format but i want something that will work in a DVD player.

I've been using nero. it works ok. you can use a dvd burner or burn a vcd to a cd-r.
