Yo dude, if you want to get out sometime I'd be happy to teach you how to go from kinda stuck (like in that picture) to REALLY fucking stuck. Haha!

Seriously, happy to get out and teach you guys what little I know. If you're willing, I'd strongly recommend being ready to sacrifice a ski day and get out (just one of you on the sled) for a soft boot day and just learn how to ride. It'll make you a lot more capable in the future.

I assume you bought it mostly for La Plata Canyon, do you have a way to transport it elsewhere? LPC is fun but I think there are better places nearby to learn how to actually handle the sled.

This is kind of stuck-specific. Sometimes it's best to roll the sled. Sometimes it's best to dig. Sometimes you can pin and wiggle. In any case the goal is to get the track back up on top of snow with traction and usually to flatten the sled enough that it's not trying to climb Mt Everest to get out of the hole.

I make some. Simple design that bolts to the side of the tunnel. I don't have the website built out yet so just PM me. Lead time would be about 1-2 weeks - I retail at $150 per side of the sled (including straps and all the hardware) but I'll do a mag discount of course.

Reverse is mostly only helpful on hardpack and when unloading from your truck or trailer. There will be plenty of times when you go to turn around that you'll be going "goddammit I wish I had reverse" but the real problem is almost always lack of talent.

Snowmobiles are simultaneously really fun and an absolute motherfucker. Eventually you'll learn that sleds are more than just an access tool and that going out on a high danger day and getting faceshots all day while never going anywhere near avalanche terrain is pretty fucking awesome.

Seat covers are relatively cheap and easy to install with the right staple gun. Stainless staples recommended. Just did mine found an oem cover for a 100 bucks and sent it

    On the stucks.

I am a master of stuck. Can get stuck faster and better than anyone on this mountain.

I have found having a shortish, but not too short (say a couple meters) of webbing for the ski pulls helpful.

Loop it around the ski in such a way when the sled pops out you can keep hold of it and the sled doesn't take it with and get wrapped up somewhere it shouldn't.

Really saves on the old back parts and fits in a jacket/bib pocket for quick deployment- did I mention I am stuck a lot?

What a waste of a strong motor. Admittedly I'm a wheel and tire snob.

Love my snobunje! Def worth having in your kit.

@whipski Nope, haven't been there this season but have seen plenty of tracks in that direction. Just been playing around below Hancock and tincup. Hoping to get down there this weekend tho. You gonna be around?

I'll try and grab some pics from the other guys but no camera for me. Went to Cooke this past weekend and got the tour from the FWP cop(friend of our crew). Shit was handlebars deep and buddy knew where to hit for fresh/views etc. People might laugh but I was a bit intimidated by the pull outta daisy esp in flat light. I think I was 1 of 2 people in town on the old m-series chassis.

P.S.- to the midwestern crew of like 10 dudes who were passing around a V.R. headset watching porn at the bar while slamming Busch lattes and Fireball.......that shit is wack.

I have this and it saves me a ton of work.

Of course I almost always ride alone... so getting unstuck by myself is what I do.

So much fun cruising through arctic tundra on Tundra 600 efi! Damn I like this sled. Enough power to go anywhere here and not that much power that I need to be afraid of my life when I make a mistake [emoji16]

I rode the four stroke version of those in west Yellowstone for the first time ever. Just a crazy amount of fun. I remember hearing four strokes aren’t the way to go though. Totally caught the itch.

    I have a 2011 600 ACE Tundra

I absolutely love it, it is 100% the right machine for me.

I groom tight single track with it, quite often threading the needle between 2 trees.

For me the 4 stroke is 100% the way to. I groomed for 3 hours last night and the gas gauge didn't drop a bar.

Yeah, four stroke definately if you pull anything regulary. I have Lynx Commander 900 ace for pulling work and for ski trips very far away. Nice to be able to go out for couple of days and no need to worry about gasoline. But it's definately not as fun as Tundra [emoji16]

Hope to, waiting to see which day I'll lift ski. You monitor radio traffic? Which channel? Also made contact with apparently one of the more serious local pow rippers through a friend at patrol who has offered to set the track up to my place. Have you met Craig? Has the yurt up on Hancock and is driving the snow cat these days. Good friend.

Thanks to everyone for their advice, especially adrenalated!

Had an excellent day sled skiing today. Got way back LPC and accessed some super sweet N facing trees. Didn’t get stuck or have any drama aside from multiple pulls to start the machine.

Skied an area I’ve wanted to explore for a decade. Fkn rad day. Hooked up with another party, one guy on a proper pow sled and he laid tracks in for us gapers. SO STOKED ON SLED ACCESSED SKIING.

    Adrenalated:
    - would love a day of braaping around and thanks for the offer. I’ll send a PM.

-yeah, for the remainder of the season it’ll probably stay at LPC. My raft trailer is entombed in snow and i won’t have time to deal with it until April. Next year id like to explore back behind purg in some of the snowcat skiing zones and Molas. But, I’m running out of time this year.

-PM incoming about the ski holders. I’ll take 2 sets :-)

    -thanks man

Just saw Craig this morning in the trailer turnaround. Beautiful day up here. We're usually on 15 but don't pay much attention to it unless we're stuck. If you're in town the sauna is lit.
