    TDF this week

    TDF this week:

Ok, for all you that were bored with flat riding, here comes the first week of some climbing.

    Monday
Day off. Stop trying to find it on OLN.

    Tuesday
A warm up for the coming mountains. 2 category 4 climbs and a couple sprints. 160km.
(Climbs are rated 1-4, 1 being the most difficult, unless it is not rated, then its one BMF.)

    Wednesday
    1 category 1 climb, 2 category 2 climbs, 5 category 3 climbs, 1 category 4 climb, plus 2 sprints.
    237km.

    Thursday
    0 category 1 climbs, 1 category 2 climb, 1 category 3 climb, 3 category 4 climbs, plus 2 sprints.
    164km.

    Friday
    2 category 1 climbs, plus 2 sprints. 197.5km.
It's uphill almost the entire day, except after they climb the first major hill, then a decent just to climb the next one. Feel the pain.
If Lance is not in Yellow by today, then we will know who is competition is for sure.
It is usually by now that he takes the Yellow and does not return it (maybe the day before).

    Saturday
    2 category 1 climbs, 2 category 2 climbs, 2 category 3 climbs, 0 category 4 climbs, plus 2 sprints.
    205.5km. Feel the pain!!!

Sunday: Long flat day. If there are any sprinters left, you will see them going for it.
    Monday: Day off.

Tuesday and the next few days: It gets harder than the above week. More pain.

Will post more info next week.
    Ski, Bike, Climb.
    Resistence is futile.

Thanks for the head's up, I imagine that many of us Americanos are not cycling savvy enough to know that today is a rest day in the TdF.

Due to the greatness of the world wide web we over in these parts have access to some wonderful cycling resources such as:

    Velo News

    and

    Cycling News

which have a wealth of cycling related information. I will be glued to a TV for Stage 13 on Saturday, the profile looks brutal. Should be a great week of racing.

These next days are just plain brutal. And, these are the days that make the riders so great, any of them that even finish the race.

For the viewer looking for the excitement, especially for those routing for Lance, this is where it all begins. Keep eyes open and see who the other contenders are too. Sprinters show themselves just at the end, climbers are on it all day.

    The race starts tomorrow.
