Mini TR: Speed and Rollers at Purissima

went for a nice spin at Higgins Purissima - just south of Half Moon Bay.

Starts right off with a good lungbuster climb up Whittemore Gulch - weather and views are amazing. Climb for maybe 4 miles or so before getting the good - the downhill on Harkins Ridge.

They've graded/groomed this recently - so if you love rollers, you'll love it. You can absolutely fly (though watch for horses and hikers) and catch some good air off the rollers. I was not so much catching air as eating my housemates dust, who was catching said air.

It's a bit loose and dry right now, but so fun....

Is this different from the trail we rode last year? Or did you run it in reverse from the valley, when we did it from Skyline?

Yup - same trail, but in reverse - starting down in the Valley, climbing then descending. We'll have to try it next time you're back down here.

Nice! Please keep the BETA on Bay Area riding flowing! The MTB JONGS (me) appreciate it.

I used to love Purissima until I realized that the bombing 15 minute DH = a 2 hour pain train climb back to the top.

We can, however, park a shuttle at the lower area, thus negating the need for said 2 hour pain train climb. Whaddaya say?

Sorry, I thought I'd fix that for you.
