Owens:
Could having more sub-forums help out with this? Is it just the "ski / snowboard" table that's too big?
I know a lot of forums have regional sections. That could help. A political flame forum could help too.
Also, I know in other forums, they move threads that aren't in the right spot. Maybe giving pHunk and iceman delete power might be too much, but allowing them to move threads to the right places might help keep the db a little more balanced.
Some more ideas.
Exactly. Ice may not have started many good threads, but he's certainly ended many!Originally posted by Woodsy

ok. I just deleted the 10 or 15 most boring, useless threads I started. Tomorrow, the next 10 will get axed. It's all relative - what seems interesting today will get cut tomorrow.
“Within this furnace of fear, my passion for life burns fiercely. I have consumed all evil. I have overcome my doubt. I am the fire.”
Announcements for events that have already happened seem like good candidates for deletion, assuming no one added a report or pictures to the same thread after its conclusion.
Heh, only as long as "occasionally move things just to be a dick" is in my job description. Otherwise, no deal.Originally posted by joshbu

Owens, am I missing something? Is there I way I can sift straight to threads I started? I don't start many and it's tedious going through all I posted in to see who started them.
Search results used to list the original poster (maybe that was Powder) or at least list yourself as 0 post if you started it. I don't see that anymore in search so it's harder to go back and edit what I can.
I left posts I made on conditions just as a reference for next season. I also left bike forum stuff as that is smaller and all pretty new anyways.

It's not so much the model year, it's the high mileage or meterage to keep the youth of Canada happy
L7, it's right there in front of you when you search, I dunno if I can help you any more than that.
Search using your username and look in the column that says "Thread Starter". If the name there is yours, well...
I figured that out a short time ago. I wasn't using search. I was going to CP or clicking on profile and then show posts from this user. Doing it that way does not give you topic starter.
Then I realize I hadn't used search as in search by user. Voila, there it was as you say. Managed to nuke a couple more.

LASERANIMAL - delete that fuggen huge ass useless Pad Pad Pad thread in the padded room will ya?
You know, there's one person here who could prolly delete enough of their own shit to clear all of this up. I won't name names, but they brought you such threads as "do you think my bike is sexy?", "look at the trees in my backyard", "extreme xc skiing (pics included)", and "why are girls from norwedge meanies".

I just cut out a bunch of my crap from the past.
ONS - is this helping? Is that good enough for now or should we keep going?
No this isn't helping. Look at my post count, I was almost at 500, now I have a weeks worth of posting to do to catch up. Jesus people, don't you realize that our post counts are far more important than keeping the server moving?Originally posted by Ubersheist

I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.
This place is lookin good Owens. I haven't been on here in a long time, i like the user galleries that was a good idea.
bump
Damn! Your right. I hadn't even thought of this... and I was so close to getting more posts then Iceman. What happened to my other 2355 posts? Oh, well.Originally posted by DJSapp

edit: I just lobbed off a few mundane threads in which I think Iceman posted. Maybe if we all gang up on him...![]()

How bout keeping everything in Tech Talk just as a baseline, because theres some important techie info that can be searched for in there, especially when people want to do research/JONG jongs by posting search links.
posted poop, has been deleted.
More fucked up than a cricket in a hubcap
now we have a front 2 pages covered with worthy but out of order Trs, funny stuff, etc.Originally posted by Woodsy
I am glad self pruning can help but a little bummed to delete older things. IE The homestaeding thread is a great snapshot of the Exodus & Arrrival but bumping it does not make much sense.
pruning older untouched stuff, thus forcing us to bump things we feel worthy routinely isnt the answer
snapshots of time here those pages were now its just a mess of highlights![]()
oh well.
free forum fallout I suppose..............
Hard to tell what day it is on this bumpy ride.
If bumping saves good stuff I'm for it, even though it kinda messes up the "snapshot of time" that you could get by going back to the older pages.
It'd be better if we could just prune the junk and leave the rest as is. I haven't gotten any "server too busy" messages the last couple of days at least. Has anyone else?
Culled all of mine but 2, but then I don't start very many threads either.
I should probably change my username to IReallyDon'tTeleMuchAnymoreDave.
Owens, just delete a whole chunk of it. No one will care. Heck, they probably won't even notice.![]()
