OK, haven't seen many random friday polls, so how about one this week.
If you could choose only 2 mountains to ski for the rest of you life, what would they be?
Whistler/Blackcomb
Alta/Snowbird
Jackson/Targhee
Squaw/Alpine Meadows

No Keystone/Breck option?
What? No love for:
Vail
Aspen
Sun Valley

Everest & K2. My life wouldn't last long, but what a way to go, eh?
Your dog just ate an avocado!
Forgot the Liberty/Roundtop option too.
Pic Blanc/La Meije would keep me occupied.
Where's Hunter/Windham?

What about the Greek Peak, Labrador and Song Mountain trifecta?
Trifecta. A word that gets many airings here at TGR.
Perhaps it should be banned and any future trifecterers tarred and feathered.
Since it's a trifecta, perhaps they should be tarred, feathered and ridden out of town on a rail.
Since nickle is my favorite I had to go with Alta/Snowbird, but coudn't I go up to Jackson once in a while? Pretty Please....

All great mountains, but all fucking zoos with too many people, too many rockstars and too many condos.
La Meije alone would have me cockstuck. There's a new entry to the lexicon.
Briancon always burbles to the top. The number of places within an hour is freaking staggering: La Grave, Trois Vallees, Val Cenis, Val Frejus, Bardoneccia, Claviere, Montgenevre, Sestrieres, Saulx d'Oulx, Vars/Risoul, The Queyras (Ceillac, Aiguilles, Abries, St. Veran/Molines) and at leat 5 others with over 4k vertical feet.
Alagna/Champoluc/Gressoney is mindblowing in size.
But Silverton has hit my siren's chord for a while: low key, friendly town, minimal rock stars, cheap food and lodging, killer skiing. Plus Telluride is an easy day trip, provided it's not dumping madly, in which case, you'd be nuts to ski elsewhere than Silverton.

I wish I could add one more to the poll, and that would be Red Mountain and Whitewater, I suppose I should have thought of that about 2 hours ago. They fill the low key and uncrowded slot perfectly.

Nobody here knows the Queyras. It's the magical mystery place. Il s'appelle le nouvelle Vallee X.![]()

It's a bunch of dinky backwater draglift joints 2500-4k in vert. But after le glitz de la set jette d l"Europe and pounded pistes, it just sounds really attractive.Originally posted by bad_roo

I voted Jackson/Targee but mostly for the backcountry. While it is now getting as busy as lift served at some of the smaller resorts I've been to, it is good, and it is challenging in many aspects.
Please don't tell my home mountains I am thinking about cheating.
Honestly, if I were to choose a mountain or two to ski for the rest of my life, I'd take a smaller mountain, someplace out of the way, little in the way crowds, old lifts, crappy cafe, nice terrain, good backcountry, etc. You know, the kind of place we would all like to call home.
Is that asking to much?

Sounds like the Whitewater/Red Mountain option I mentioned above.Originally posted by LCC

I wouldn't pick any of those mainstream places, I'd pick some way cool place in a totally obscure heady locale with heady cool locals.
no question there, I'll be skiing alta and snowbird for a long long time. Little Cottonwood canyon is one of the sweetest places on earth.

Vernon Valley / Great Gorge
(dropping it old school - Mountain Creek What???)
Blackcomb (although could make do with Crystal) and Las Lenas - what nobody else wants to ski in the summer?
