who here has been on a cruise???

well some friends and i are thinking about going on a cruise. Just want to know who of you have gone and if u had fun and would recommend it. We want a cruise that isnt gonna cost too much, probably like a 4day in the caribbean. For those of you who went how much did it cost you and how long was it.

So THAT'S why it's called a poop deck.
I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

My boss went on a cruise recently. Basically he said it looked cheap with the package and all, but even though he and his wife don't drink alcohol, they ended up going WAY WAY over budget because there were things they wanted to do at every stop and everything costs extra. And he said there were people he met who were drinking a lot who were maxing out credit cards halfway through the trip.

Personally, I couldn't take being trapped on a boat - I want to do stuff on vacation, not just on shore stops... If I want to lay around drinking all day in the sun I'd rather go to a beach where I'm on my own schedule and it'd be cheaper.

If you go on one I'd just make sure you read all the fine print about what's included and what's going to cost you extra.

I did a 12 hour cruise from Finland to Sweden. Got loaded. Toured around Stolkholm for the day and then went back to Finland again getting loaded. On the way back some Swedish Hockey players who were also loaded fealt that me being a Canadian should know lots about hockey. When I said I didn't know that much they tried to kick my ass. I got out of that situation and proceeded to get shot down by numerous beautiful ladies.

    Good times. Good times.

I took a honeymoon cruise to Alaska, we never left our cabin. Seriously, are those cruise commercials getting to you guys? They look so fun? Lots of old people. Shore stops are never long enough, but it is possible to catch up with the boat later if you want to mix it up with some road trippin in AK. A Misty Fjords mini cruise may be even cooler, taking you deeper in. 'bout $600 per person for 7 days...alcohol not included. I'd do it again....after a lot of other things.

The one my boss was on, drinks weren't included period, and I think he said they charged $3 for a Coke. God only knows what they charged for alcohol and it's not like you've got other options...

Never been on one. But as a fellow co-worker described it... "It's like being stuck in a hotel with the entire state of Kentucky."

No thanks. I'm with Altagirl. I'd rather just go to one place and be on my own time.

    Recommended places in the Carribean:
    Cayman Islands
    Cozumel (and/or Cancun)
    Aruba
    Turks & Caicos

Cruises suck. You aren't even on the ocean. Those boats are so fucking huge that they don't roll with the sea. It is like being a giant boring hotel and the only thing to do is to pull the dumbass slots in their dinky casino or sneak around the crew areas until the angry ships cook chases you around with a butcher knife. Eventually, you just stay in your cabin and fuck your girl, which you could do at home anyway. If you don't have a girl, you will try in vain to woo the myriad of female crewmembers but since they are from 100 different countries and none of them speak english, they will be repulsed by your cabin fever look until your retreat to the bar and wish you were seasick because then you would be doing something. Eventually you get to port, run off the ship and blow your money on fun stuff until you are broke and hungover.

We also did a Honeymoon cruise to Alaska. We had a good time, but were a little discourage that how they price the shore excursions. We got around that by just going on our own in a couple of towns. The first couple of days that did not have any stops did get old though. The cool part for us is that now we have an idea of places we would like to go back to on a more extended trip to one location.

As far as drinking go, it really was not much more than you big city bars, 4.00 beers and such, and for dinner, we just kept getting a bottle of wine, that was the best deal. They also have drink specials of the day to look out for, that is where you can get some savings.

I went on a 4 day-er on spring break of my senior year. I have mixed feelings. You get to see a few different places. You don’t have to worry about finding a good restaurant or worrying whether you can afford to go to a nice one. But, if you’re not into sunbathing, casinos, and atrociously bad comedians and singers you can actually run out of things to do while you’re on the boat. One entire day was spent at sea and I got pretty frickin bored. We stopped at Key West, but only for six hours; not enough. We went on this snorkel and beach party trip that they take you out on a catamaran to this secluded beach. It was expensive but well worth it.

I was told by a travel agent that the drinks were cheap; they weren’t, but as mentioned no more expensive than a city bar or a tourist spot. Not sure what it was about the cruise, but I never got much of a hangover. I was working on about 4 hours of sleep per night. One night I got so drunk I was running down the halls of the bedrooms at 3 AM, throwing a plate from the cafeteria like it was a Frisbee. It was bouncing off walls and yet I didn’t get yelled at once.

It wasn’t a bunch of old people or gaper-candidates either. I met some pretty cool people, including the Florida State cheerleaders, which was by far the hottest group of girls I have ever seen. Every single one amazing. One night; I was sexiled from my room, so I was laying down outside the door and some older woman (late 30’s probably) asked what I was doing and asked if I wanted to go to her room “to talk”, and I passed it up; what the funk was I thinking?!!

Overall, I’d say a cruise is probably better than some pure resort town like Daytona, but not as good as somewhere where there’s more to see, like Mexico or the Carribean.

I did a 12 hour cruise from Finland to Sweden. Got loaded. Toured around Stolkholm for the day and then went back to Finland again getting loaded.
Toque - I did the same cruise back in the 90's. We had a great time and got totally plowed. About a week after we took the cruise, the ship we had been on sunk - something about a seal not being tight enough on the bow (where they load cars and such). Pretty scary.

I've been on a bunch of cruises and pretty much agree with what folks are saying so far. Curises are great for seeing a bunch of different places, so ou can decide where you want to go back to for a "real" trip. If you've never been to the Caribbean, then it's a good way to visit aseveral different islands, but you don't get to spend much time on any one island.

That said, I took a cruise down the inside passage in Alaska and that was an awesome way to see the area.
Of all the muthafuckas on earth, you the muthafuckest.
