I assume you are talking about the AST1 course, not a CAA Level 1?

I'll likely hit up one of the U of C AST1 courses. $145 doesn't seem too bad.

I'm looking for a course, and am probably thinking of the u of c course (AST1). I just wanted to see if anyone would be planning on doing one at the same time to try to get in a group with similar interests (ie: skiing as opposed to sledding, xc skiing etc).

I'd be interested in meeting up with some other mags at an avi course. Not sure what dates I'll be looking at yet though...let me know if you register.

Agreed, had him for when I took AST1 and he was great, extremely knowledgeable, definitely left an impression on us.

I'm in after my wife gives birth and a week. She is due Nov 22, so beginning of December would be about right for me.
I was looking at this already, so I wouldn't mind going with some like minds. Keep it posted.
    Man, It was great...

Right on 2Stix. A light dusting fell at elevation last night and got me thinking early season turns. Maybe next week...

Anyone thinking about the CAA lvl 1? I completed the RAC a few years ago, more knowledge is always better.

if your'e thinking of this for this season, you're either too late, or you better head right to www.avalanche.ca to sign up for any spaces that may be left. I think the last time I looked there were a few spots left in a couple of the courses, but most were booked.

update, ended up registering for the avie 1 course with the u of c outdoor centre going Dec. 3, 5, 6. When I registered there were still 16 spots available, so i'm assuming it won't fill up overly quick. Not sure yet if the course is being taught by albi, but i'm going to phone in and check on monday.

next year find out when the CAA opens the registration on line because that's the day you need to sign up. You're welcome.
