Skunked again...(but happy w/ my new surf setup)

I got a nice new Uglystick and Penn captiva reel to ease my way back into saltwater fishing. It was a nice afternoon of fishing off the rocks into the channel at sunset...but I got skunked! Lately this has been happening, or I'm yanking fish off the hook. I'm cursed.

Anyway, some dood was yanking in a bunch of stripers but I was too far across the channel to ask him what he was using.

Hope I can get out and try it again. It's still better to get out and get skunked than not get out at all. And happy w/ my new gear, I am. (oooh, I have a hot pink bucktail too which is very cool)

Today I was at Shippan (Cummings Park) fishing on the rocks next to the old pier w/ a bunch of Spanish guys (dude @ Pete's bait shop told me "follow the spanish guys, they know what they're doing!). Apparently so, b/c one of them didn't get skunked like me.

Tomorrow I'm thinking of hitting up Cove Island park, the jetty and the rocks. Otherwise I'm entertaining seeing what's happening at other areas around Shippan point.

Got to check the tides too. Word is the big fish are coming in after the bunker, but today I didn't pay attention to the tides and I'm blaming that for my failure (because it can't be me doing lousy fishing!).

Not to wish you no fish, but I hope they STAY NORTH for another couple weeks...or at least till i get to rhody.

I'm interested to keep hearing what you're seeing! Keep at it!
