Called the POlice about a random pack leaning against AT&T bldg this AM

Not to be 'noidy but wtf? Added wtf factor: I originally walked into a police station about 1 block from the bag to report the incident and they told me that, oddly enough, I needed to call 911 so it was logged properly. I said "OK, so you guys will check it out in the meantime?"

" well when we hear from 911 we will"

Your local police station ceased to be a one-stop shop for all emergency services about 10 years ago. The 911 folks might see fit to call ATF, bomb squad, SWAT, ambulances, etc., etc.

But the desk guy could have at least given you access to a phone from which to call.

I wasn't in danger of falling off something- not nearly as fun. Plus I probably look like I have or am a good lawyer (neither is true)/

Why did you suspect this pack? Was it parked outside a consulate or fed building?

It was sitting all by itself outside a major communications hub which is one block from the Holland tunnel and one block from the headquarters of the (now) 4th largest bank in the US on a major Jewish holiday, as the US financial system is gyrating wildly.

    Plus, I'm really fucking paranoid.

I had no idea you were talking about a bag. When you said "pack", I was thinking you were concerned about about a pack of hoodlums like these fellows.

Oh, I didn't realize you were in NYC. No explanation needed.

    Carry on.

Blowing up a bank now would just be redundant.

Sometimes it's hard not to be when 7 years ago you found yourself running thru the streets trying to avoid falling debris and many of your co-workers paid the ultimate price for showing up to work on time.....

Made me think of the Captain Morgan commercial where the guys walk into the pizza delivery joint, order a pizza, and then get a ride home with the dude before opening their door.

    Narrator: Was it ticking?
Airport Security Officer: Actually throwers don't worry about ticking 'cause modern bombs don't tick.
    Narrator: Sorry, throwers?
Airport Security Officer: Baggage handlers. But, when a suitcase vibrates, then the throwers gotta call the police.
    Narrator: My suitcase was vibrating?
Airport Security Officer: Nine times out of ten it's an electric razor, but every once in a while...
    [whispering]
Airport Security Officer: it's a dildo. Of course it's company policy never to, imply ownership in the event of a dildo... always use the indefinite article a dildo, never your dildo.
    Narrator: I don't own...
    [Officer waves Narrator off]

No, Benny knows that one shouldn't bother young white men from Long Island marking off the calendar to pensionland with ...... problems. Now, the thing to do was somehow contact 911 with a non traceable communication device and shout "Officer down!!" at precisely the same spot as the pack, go grab a latte, and watch the turmoil.

I hear that. But why not get excited when you hear someone wins the lottery because it means you have a better chance of winning too... wait a minute...

I'd rather go half full than half empty- the odds of shit like that happening to you, here, are pretty freaking remote. Being scared of backpacks and brown guys isn't going to get you anywhere. Be afraid of herepes, or republicans...
