I find Frankenreiter's shit as boring, generic and self-righteous as anything on the market. Sunchild sucked too. He's completely riding on Jack Johnson's coattails. Even though Jack Johnson is pretty one-dimensional and played out, he has a better sound than Frankenreiter and more original lyrics.

As for the footage. Meh. Don't get me wrong, those are gnar waves for sure. I just never bought in to the whole tow in thing. The few times I gave it a whril, I got a shit load of waves. Instead on one per hour (my usual big wave quota), I was getting 10. But it sure felt like cheating. IMO, a big part of the rush of big wave surfing is tracking those beast down.

On the other hand, I would not even tow into those at Shipsterns. Besides, I ski now in the winters.

Glad I started surfing in my mid 30s, so I had a little common sense.
Back then, the occasional double overhead plus day was fun.
No way would you have got me out on 25-30 foot faces like the video
Now I am sticking to about 10 foot faces or less. I just hate getting pounded.
Let the young guys have this shit, I am over it.
Fuck if it is that big in the winter, I will just go skiing
