Figured I outta post something from the Yellowstone region as I have been neglecting all season.
Sorry this is a scenic TR but the fish pics are on a friends camera. I'll add those when I get 'em.
Took the day off of work and caring for a newborn yesterday to hit the Snake up in Grand Teton National Park. We floated one of the upper stretches and managed to avoid the crowds. Good #'s and mostly saw Cutts in the 12 - 16 inch range with a couple larger and a couple smaller. The fishing has been excellent, although the dam is still spitting out close to summer flows. Hopefully we'll see things level out to fall/winter flows relatively soon.
Outside of a 1/2 hour window, first thing in the morning of throwing double bunnies, we went up top with double dry rigs all day long. Prolly would have seen more fish had we gone the dry-dropper route but fall dry fly fishing is fall dry fly fishing. The weather wasn't too cooperative for any mohagany or baetis hatches. So, we stuck to fall stone patterns and attractors of all sizes and colors. Red and yellow...go figure, were the hot colors. Black fat alberts were killing it for about an hour around noon.
Here are a few pics from the day. There was a large prescribed burn in the area so these are a bit hazy.
My boat...finally clean!
Upper waters
The Cathedral Group and the river
Mt. Moran
Lunch time view!
The only shot I tried to take of a fish....my buddy losing his grip on a Cutty that just graduated from twinkie school.
Walking back to the boat after some wading on the lower end of the stretch.
The 2 characters I was with.
Another hazy teton photo
