Where's the thread on the Feds wanting to "buy all the toxic debt"

Toxic debt - that has a good ring to it. I want in. I hope my government gives me the opportunity to jump on board.

Unfortunately I sold the home I couldn't afford - so missed the boat to be in on it personally - but I have new hopes now that the fed is going to ask congress to lend them 100's of billions to buy all the subprime loan badness.

    edit for Associated Press quote

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26787984?GT1=43001

"WASHINGTON - Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson on Friday sketched out a multi-faceted effort to confront the worst U.S. financial crisis in decades, outlining a program that could cost taxpayers “hundreds of billions” of dollars to buy up bad mortgages and other toxic debt that has unhinged Wall Street.

“This needs to be big enough to make a real difference and get to the heart of the problem,” he told reporters as the administration asked Congress to give it sweeping powers."

I believe that's currently filed under "Americans: So, whats it like to live in a socialist country?"

Who woulda thunk that in addition to banning abortion and returning prayer to schools, the Republican agenda was to socialize the entire financial infrastructure of the USA! Pretty sneaky...
