I think that is the same week I'm heading out there too, and FWIW..I am also a Ski Patroller. What areas are you heading for? Your Patrol Director may be able to hook you up with one of the area's PD (if they know each other), and they can usually get you comp tickets. That is unless your PD is a total douche bag.

Meskibum, I have to hit brighton for some hiking/backcountry skiing and also solitude and I am for sure going to snowbird if not twice to ski baldy chutes and also to the top and ski into alta. I don't think my director knows anyone out there, I've always thought about walking into the patrol room and asking some patrollers to help me out, never have though. Solitude doesn't even do an NSP deal, I guess the super pass is the best way to go most of the time, you do get free bus transportation.

Anyone know what it costs to take the bus to snowbird from brighton without superpass?

I'm not sure what the bus price is. i do know it will take like 2 hours to go down one canyon then up the other. You say that you will be skiing Brightons backcountry, if so a skin from Alta to Brighton is faster then the bus. Also a skin from Solitude back to Alta takes like 15 minutes and is more of a side step traverse then a skin, all this depends on snow stability...

The bus was $2.50/day. Try this: www.rideuta.com

I believe that it was Solitude that gave me the NSP discount, but it wasn't much. Every other ticket was included in the package I booked last year. This year, I'm doing it all myself and staying with a friend near Solitude.

We didn't go to Brighton last year, and from what I had heard, it was geared more for snowboarding and park stuff. I could be completely off on that.

Solitude gives full time employees a 1/2 price voucher each pay period.
Patrol rarely uses theirs. Patrol loves beer. I would hook ya up and will try if you pm me enough of a head of time, but I'll be at the Cambell Ice Fields Chalet.

If you are a patroller, you probably have a season pass at your mountain. Some other places give you a discount if you show them a season pass from your place. I guess they figure that you've already spent some coin, so they lighten your burden by giving you 50% off. Check their policy before you buy.

There is also a Ski Shop in town that you can buy discounted tickets. I don't remember the name of the shop, but it was in the same 'plaza' as Porcupine Restaurant. That's a good place to grab food and see some talent.

Yup. They also rent fatties cheaper than at the resorts. One of our guys last year brought his skinny noodles to Utah!?!? He rented Katana's and had a much different experience.
Low post count because I'm too busy working and then skiing, but not neccessarily in that order.

Solitude is not a park hill for snowboarders! Honestly the honeycombs are awsome as well as alot of the rest of the hill. Their is alot of extream steeps with cliff drops everywhere, I had alot of fun their last year. Brighton also is a great hill with alot of back country access right off the lift so bring your becon and probe and shovel!!!! I would recomend solitude on a pow day for sures!!!!!!!!!!
