    Doctor Who?

The Doctor has kept the Daleks from invading the earth, which is a good thing.
HOWEVER, the real reason for this post is my wife's attempt to find a doctor. Whatcom Co. is among the worst counties in the state for chronic pain patients to get what they need. Since April when her last doc was run out of town for Rxing (too many?) pain meds she has seen several docs, all of whom had only one thing in mind, get her off the drugs, never mind what it does to her. As a result she is almost totally non-functional and is unable to control her pain. None of you want to be in her shoes, or mine for that matter. So if anyone knows of a doctor in the PNW who treats chronic pain patients and isn't afraid of Rxing pain meds when there is a legit need, please PM or email me. And by the way, she's been through pain clinics and just about any wild idea anyone has and when it comes down to it, narcotic pain meds do what nothing else will. Hope someone comes up with a non-narcotic pain med some day soon.
Sorry this is such a bummer of a topic, desperation rules.

What a drag that our country is so fucked up that people who LEGITIMATELY NEED pain meds can't get them because the Docs are afraid of the Feds. Fucking horrible situation.

I don't have anything to help your wife, man, I'm very sorry about that.

And pissed off at the same time.

You can get acetaminophen & codeine (300mg acetaminophen, 15mg caffeine, 8mb codeine) over the counter in Canada. It works for some people.
If you have a problem & think that someone else is going to solve it for you then you have two problems.

    sorry to hear that man.

present thinking is that the doctors are way undertreating pain. I think it stems from the fact that we were always taught that you could make someone an addict if you gave them narcotics, but the fact is it is a tiny minority that get addicted.

anyway you can travel to some big univ hospital where they might be more open minded? i really don't know much about the county you are in.

We sincerely appreciate all your thoughts and suggestions. I don't want anyone to get into any trouble over this though. Talking about having or being able to get "unorthodox" drugs on an open forum like this is a little scary. We all know the government monitors the internet for trigger words regarding terrorism. Can we say they positively don't do the same for their pathetic drug war as well?
Our main concern is finding a doctor who will treat pain adequately. It is known that the under treatment of initial serious pain is one cause of chronic pain.
More thoughts later. I'll answer all the PMs in the next day or so.

Have you thought about unorthodox treatments like accupuncture etc. I went for accupuncture for allergies and they are now under control. The guy that told me about his experience with allergies and accupuncture also had chronic back pain. It was treated and although not gone, is now much less.

I have used accupunture myself. I suffered a serious spinal injury years ago. The accupunture helped me somewhat. It did great for my shoulder, but yoga has helped my back pain more than anything else besides pain medication.

She has tried it. The problem is the combination of degenerative disc disease, myofacial pain disease, fibromyalgia, foot bones breaking up, diverticulosis and more make treatment hard. What helps one thing makes something else worse. Another problem is that she "knows too much" about what she has, what works and what doesn't work. If you have a long term relationship with a doc and together you figure things out, thats one thing but for a new patient to tell the doc whats what is a problem. Do it my way or you're outta here. After all, who is the doctor anyway?
It boggles the mind. I think I need to ski.
