sorry that the future of our respective nations actually mean something to some of us. remember politics will eventually touch all aspects of our lives, including skiing. Whether it is environmental policy, tax structures or cross border trade agreements; odds are that the decisions we make today will affect the way we enjoy the snow tommorow.

I second that! I have strong feelings about what is going on, and participate in forums related to that. Even beyond politics, it has become quite NSR here - I know it's summer, but ""my elbow hurts, what do I do?" "My car blew up, what do I do?" "I boinked my neighbors wife, and he found out - what oh what do I do??" - It's getting a bit much. There are car forums, medical forums, forums for those who collect antique mayonnaise jars - this one is SKI and SNOWBOARD - now I am guilty of these tramsgressions myself, but the political ones tend to divide and create bad feelings. So let's get back to the "stoke"!

Agreed, I see no reason that politics should not be discussed. Granted this is a ski and snowboard forum, but that also means that it is a large group of people who share a common interest and it provides a base for discussion. If its intelligent debating and not political bashing I see no problem with it.

Ditto. As long as the thread titles are accurate, what's the big deal? I like hearing people's political opinions sometimes, and if I'm not in the mood, I don't open those threads. Not so difficult...

Title should indicate that it's political, so I'll know not to click by accident. Trying to change people's political/religious opinions ===> waste of time and energy, but have the fuck at it...

I don't so much mind the "Hey, this is what's going on" threads, but the "This is who sucks and why" threads aren't doing anyone any good. I ain't going to name any names, and I started this thread so I wouldn't have to, but it's kind of like the dude who shows up at the hill blasting whatever music they personally like - just because you like it, doesn't mean you have to try to make everyone else like it too.

Maybe it's just the state of the Union that's got me so bent out of shape, or maybe it's the long summer ahead, or maybe it's the fact that I do live in the Valley.

Anyway, I was just hoisting my banner, and now that I put it out there, I'll go back to just reading and resisting my temptation throw gas on the flames.
