    sunglasses

Does anyone have any experience converting their sunglasses (specifically Spy brand glasss) to prescription? Did you have it done through an optical place or from the manufacturer? Thinking of getting a pair and having them done up.

Just had a pair done. Optical place. Red lens for flat light and a mirror finish. Used a Hobie frame. You can get about anything you want,it's all about the money. 150.00 and up.

I wasn't very clear in my post. The lenses will not be tinted. I will wear as normal glasses. Most optical places won't touch really curved lenses. I was just wondering if anyone had experience ordering 'scripted glasses on-line.

I recently ordered a pair of Action Optic (a division of Smith) polarized glasses online - they did quite a good job.

The experience I had with my Spy Sunglasses (I had Scoop's) was less than stellar. Frame broke easily in Cold Weather.

I have had two pairs of my prescription glasses done ith spy's. I only ever use a metal frame (both were matte black falco's).

I really liked them, they held up well, stuck to my face, and were a hell of a lot cheaper than a prescription frame. They are kinda "Jean-Guy" style but they worked with my face.

Be careful with your prescription since the heavy curvature of most modern sunglasses makes it difficult for strong prescriptions.

I got mine done through my optomotrist, $50CDN for the lenses with my prescription.

I just bought a new pair of frames for a new prescription. Arnette steel swingers, black frame. Very nice. I would recomend metal frames though, not plastic as already pointed out for good reason

No tint, funky shiny coatings that will make me look like a bar star. They are surprisingly classy.

I had Smith do me up a set of Analyst frames with clear prescription lenses. They sent me a form, I faxed the form to Smith with a payment of $90 for the Rx lenses, and they shipped the frames off to another company to have them done, who shipped them right to me. The Analyst's lenses aren't super curved or anything, so it probably wasn't as difficult as other sunglasses. But then again, I think most sunglasses look stupid as everyday glasses, but that's just me.

Yup, yup. Did three pairs through Smith's prescription services...three different styles and three different lenses. They are BOMBER and really work better than any conversion I've ever tried.

You might consider Zeal too. I have a pair of the Lazors with several lenses and I love them. I don't wear them as everyday glasses though. They have a ton of models and all are Rx-able.
