I can't wait for Monte Carlo. It's gonna be so exciting!
Jos looked truly terrified a couple times. I like how the camera man just gave up and hoped the end would come soon. Pretty funny Max can't get a road licence. Can you imagine the fun he could have on the driving portion?
I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...iscariot
It's funny watching these guys drive a road car on a track.. they're a different species. long time ago I had a couple of laps around Silverstone with Johnny Herbert in a Nissan GTR.. I was terrified. He thru that thing around like it was nothing. Held it in a huge series of slides at Maggots/Becketts with his knees while he fished his cell phone out of his jacket.
So they're on break now, I have no way to watch races anyway. Seems like a good battle brewing between Mercedes teammates. I think we need to say goodbye to Jules Bianci. First formula one racing death since Ayrton Senna. It's been so long since Suzuka. I think he ran into a forklift that was removing another car under yellow flag conditions. I remember Senna's helmet moving but not in a normal way. Sort of a sickening settling that was also noticed by the commentators.
Sad day, but likely for the best.

Jenson Button robbed in bizarre robbery, knock-out gas may have been used.

"If the road You followed brought you to this,of what use was the road"?
"I have no idea what I am talking about but would be happy to share my biased opinions as fact on the matter. "
Ottime
Ferrari re-signs Kimi Raikkonen for 2016 Formula 1 season. Surprised. I assume it was decided that Williams wanted too much to buy Bottas out, it seemed like that move was almost inevitable.
Not that I rate Bottas he does seem to be having trouble dominating Massa at the twilight of his career.
Makes sense to keep Kimi, keeps Vettel happy, put two young Ferrari stable (. or perhaps an outside chance Hulkenberg...?) drivers into Haas next year see how they perform.
It really wouldn't surprise me to see Jean Eric Vergne end up as Vettel's team mate in 2017 via that path,
Suddenly Hamilton has a half second advantage in sector two. Something smells funny in Belgium.
Justin Wilson gone. Horrific incident. That was a thrilling albeit dangerous race at Pocono.
I watched the replays. Freak accident with the worst thing on the track to be hit with. Obviously it wouldn't be that difficult to wire the nose to the chassis. Still a freak accident. Like Massa. Somewhat like Senna as well with the suspension component spearing him under his helmet.
vibes
watch out for snakes
A friend of mine knew Justin, used to crew for him at RuSport (outside rear tire changer). Said he was one of the nicest guys in the paddock. Sucks - RIP.
Terrible news about Wilson... horrific accident.
Motorsport could have had several other deaths this weekend Rosberg or Vettel's tire failures could easily have turned into aeroplane crashes. And this one from the GP2 race at Spa is horrific..
GP3 race had a wheel go across the track at Blanchimont too.... and hit another car. at 1.40
Verstappen's outside pass there in the race was almost a re-play... in fact you could still see DeJong's skid marks into the barrier....

That is some good racing there pnwbrit. John Button also went too soon. I think unfortunately Jenson is going to move on to tv. In the Senna movie when he was asked about his fondest memories of racing (now that I think about it that is a pretty wierd question to ask someone who is still at the pinnacle of their sport) but anyhow the way it was set up in the movie it didn't seem so weird. He answered that it was when he first moved to Europe to race go karts. There was a grizzled old veteran who took him under his wing. The result was "pure racing"...no politics.

Surely you've been to Pacific Raceways for the historics. Standing at turn nine before the straightaway (maybe it is turn 10) is incredible. Formula 5000 and Formula One cars under full acceleration, maybe battling for position, mere feet away. It is "fight or flight" adreneline rush inducing action. One year this guy shows up with this Mercury outboard, snowmobile driven low slung car. He was last in his category of course but all the drivers I talked to had great respect for this guy. He had "transmission" problems in the paddock. His car was parked in the bed of his 1974 Ford Camper Special and there were parts all over the tailgate. He was still more than happy to speak to me the spectator. That is where I learned about the drive system. As he worked on it.
Nope. Never been to Pacific Raceways probably won't bother. Was dragged around european race and rally courses since before I can even remember as a kid. The The biggest adreneline[sic] rush was probably sitting at a cafe table behind the armco barrier outside the Auberge des Hunaudieres on the pre-chicane mulsanne straight about midnight feeling the late 80s group C Jags, Mercs, Porsches etc roar past at 240mph ish and see their slipstream suck your beer up the side of your glass... unfuckingforgettable.

This is turn nine I believe. The cars seem to go right underneath you. To be fair I believe that that the formula 5000 lola has been setting record lap after record lap at this track while the elf tyrell chased it. I think the action has been slowing down since the economy took a dump in 2008 and they keep running these races on the forth (sic) of july which makes it harder for me to get down there.
So back to F1. Pirelli is going to stick to there guns that something at spa caused the tire issues. All I have is timing and scoring in real time (number of pitstops as well as tire choice also) so I could follow Vettel and Ferrari's one stop strategy and secretly root for Grosjean and I think Verstappen? To get around him at the end. But for him to sink like a stone suggested to me that he ran off. That is just what I thought at the time and now it has really blown up into a controversy as probably it should since Vettel and Ferrari were far from the life expectancy of the tire per pirelli. Pirelli is still going to bring medium and softs to Monza. Maybe they are correct and there was an anomoly (i have to watch my spelling nowadays) at Spa. I assume Vettel and Rosberg both lost the same tire. And congrats to Rosberg and Vivian(?).
Good explanation of the tire failures here.
Don't think it is entirely due to number of laps Vettel had run on them.
