Vettel was making tires last better and was also just faster than Webber. Grosjean was a threat for possible win and an absolute threat for second place. They had to put Webber on three stop stratergy to both cover Lotus and to give him any chance of beating Vettel. Although for him to win on a three stop strategy he would have had to pass Vettel on track which isn't going to happen.

Is Bernie preparing a "Pinochet" dementia defense for his various upcoming court appearances?

There's some crazy stuff coming out of that trial in London. Like he paid Prost and Dave Richards(?) 10 million each out of his own pocket to persuade them in their roles as team principals to sign a concord agreement.

    Testing starts in 3 2 1 ...

Lets hope the Red Bull stranglehold is broken this year. I am pulling for Kimi this year to at least beat Fred if not win it all.
The new cars should provide some interesting highs and lows this season.

It's going to be a long hard road to Melbourne if this mornings testing results are any indication of the days to come. Any guess as to when the first battery pack explodes or catches fire?

Caterham and Force India finish joint first in the ugliest car championship.

The new "power units" make some interesting noises.

Reminds me a little of old Group C cars

do you think the sound is distorted by them taking it easy on the throttle & there only being 1 car in each shot? Get 15 of them at the redline, more cameras & mic's & the whine should pick up a little?

Testing the wets today, they should bring those trucks at a few damp races and up the fun factor.

Looked like those were mostly installation laps and stuff so perhaps.

I don't think they sound too bad. The 2.4 V8s weren't exactly the nicest sounding motors anyway, mostly just painfully noisy. Plus I'll take any reasonably loud engine if they actually become important to the racing again (even if it's only for a short while before the regulations lock them down again as is planned). Seems like the only mechanical interest in races of recent years has been whether Red Bull's alternators might catch fire.

Final results from the 4 day test. Only 21 total laps from Red Bull, they better get moving.

Wasn't that one of Bernie's plans a few years ago? He wanted sprinkler systems installed so they could make some of the boring circuits a bit more interesting.

EDIT: Bernie Ecclestone stands by Formula 1 'fake rain' plans

Exactly, their "powerunit" is far from ready.

Lotus is going to spin around a bit, the odd nose that is controversial is interesting with the unequal length prongs[?], wind tunnel must say yes.

Poor choice of words, but I think he meant it as a compliment showing how tough MS is and that he will beat this.

Taken out of context it sounds like a typical douche god nut comment, which I don't think it is.

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

Oz this weekend? Used to live around the corner from Albert Park - the pit area was super smooth for roller skiing

Watching this from the other end of the straightaway was pretty memorable
